Motion smoothing cannot be disabled

After two years with this projector, I'm ready to defenestrate.
Regardless of what Tom Cruise says, there's simply no way to disable motion smoothing (they call it MEMC) on this device, even after dozens of emails back and forth with their impressively unhelpful customer service team. If you Google it, you'll see many forum posts full of people pulling what's left of their hair out.
It's also impossible to achieve perfect focus because the focus UI doesn't show the video signal nor does it offer any objective information about the current focus settings. This means that you have to jump back and forth through multiple levels of menu to make subtle changes with no feedback until you hope that you mostly got it right.
Same deal with keystone correction; if you're someone who watches content in different screen ratios, getting the corners right is going to drive you nuts.
The onboard Android-based smart TV apps are terrible; you will need to plug in a Chromecast or similar. I wish that TV and soundbar companies would just stop pretending like the "apps" on their devices are ever going to be comparable to the devices sold explicitly for this purpose.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
