I have AX11000 and live in two floor house, I need to extend my Wifi Signal. This two small routers are awesome covered my 2800 feet house with no problem
I’ve been in the IT field for over 20 years. I’ve setup more routers than I can count. I’ve been a ASUS product user for many years now and have had little problems. That all said, he’s what you need to know about this router.
1) First thing you must do is update the firmware. It’s more important than you think.
2) Once fully updated, manually set it up. It’s not hard, so don’t feel intimidated. Setup is very easy and the only difficult decision can be what name to make the SSID and whether you want it broadcasted or not.
3) Next, power up everything in this sequence. First, reboot your modem. And wait for it to come online. Second, power up the router. The router needs the public IP to get online. This address is displayed on the dashboard page of the router as the WAN address. It’ll also tell you if you’re online.
4) Reboot any device connecting to the router. Not every device will need a reboot, but it’s good practice.
Some caveats: - depending on the vendor, smart plugs may need unplugged then plugged in again. Assuming your SSID remained the same from the previous router, the plugs should come online. If the SSID has changed, you’ll need to rerun the plug specific setup again.
- I have 3 Alexas and 2 of them connected to the router without any problems. But one needed to be reset.
Last thing you should do is backup your router configuration and save them somewhere safe.
I was having issues with wifi in my 2 story "L" shaped house. I decided to upgrade when my family was having issues with their wireless devices. I chose this one for the brand, wifi 6, mesh network and the non-subscription based security software. It was easy to setup and has been working great. The settings for XBox gaming were super simple. I tried it in a couple of places to tune the network for best coverage.
I should’ve bought the 2 pack but the mesh networking helps spread the load of all my wireless devices at home. My issues disappeared after switching from my one router from my service provider.
