He generally does 2-D CAD, but also uses it to make animation presentations, run CFD & Egress modeling and write technical reports. Beyond all of that, we also needed a machine that would hold-up well on construction sites, field audits and out-of-state travel. In short, this was the only laptop on the market that is both technically capable and durable enough to meet each of these requirements. So, if you are an Engineer, Architect or Construction professional, this is the laptop for you!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Machine is a beast and can be upgraded to 128GB of ram! It's a desktop you can carry around. Easily the most powerful laptop you can buy. The limitation however is that it's very heavy. It's ~2.5x as heavy as my T470s. Since the laptop is nearly 1" thick, and has two screaming fans, it's not that ergonomic to use on your lap.
The engineering is top notch, but buyers should consider the size, shape, and heat of such a beast machine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A bit too heavy to carry everyday. I almost don’t like it because is that. I wouldn’t have spent so much had I realized to was this heavy and look messy.

The ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 Intel (15") - Mobile Workstation embodies a good balance of power and attributes. The keyboard is very smooth and provides good key travel to ensure the user feels every key press. The screen is both crisp and vibrant in providing visual output to the user and likewise, the webcam produces a smooth, clear image for video conferencing and personal recordings. The track pad is a bit on the smaller side so I would recommend purchasing an external mouse to use when space is available. The laptop is also has a very boxy/robust shape to it which may be less desirable to some individuals. Charging on the back is always a safe bet to avoid the laptop flying across the room if someone should trip over the cable so this seems like a good design feature. Overall, this laptop provides a standard workstation package being a powerful machine with a robust design.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
