[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After years of dealing with laptops from other vendors I decided it was time to go back to my roots. My first computer was an IBM desktop that I purchased in 1995 (remember the 5 inch floppies?). As the years went by I began purchasing my desktops and laptops from other manufacturers, primarily because they were brands used by my customers. I was an IT consultant and it was more important for me to be familiar with the brands used by my customers. Now that I am retired I wanted a fast and reliable laptop. I contacted a friend who was also my partner in the IT Consulting business and asked for his opinion. He suggested Lenovo and I remembered my first desktop from IBM. I did some research, compared several of the top name brands with the configuration I had in mind and decided to go with the tried and true Lenovo. I am not disappointed. It's fast, it's well made and based on recent experience with Lenovo products, I know it is reliable.
The machine is amazing and beautiful. I love it. But one small defect is the edge below the trackpad is not tightly fixed with the bottom part which had been reported by someone in Youtube. But it does not bother me too much. Generally I love the machine and satisfied with this product. Also when I placed the order, it said it will take more than 3 months to ship, but actually after onw week, the machine was shipped out from China which surprised me. I am happy with it.

Solid, but with design flaws

* First of all solid workstation that will likely last over 5 years
* There are two design flaws that I noticed so far:
1. The RJ45 port's orientation is WRONG! It should point upwards not downwards. To release the ethernet cable, I have to lift the laptop. In all my previous Thinkpad models T530, W541, P50, P15v none of them has this issue. I suspect the Mechanical or ID designer has never used this RJ45 port ... It's a shame. Please fix this issue in future models.
2. The edge that the wrist rest on is a bit too sharp (compared to previous models) to my taste.
