Works well but beware possible shipping damage!

Ordering this log splitter was easy with the Sun Joe site easy to navigate. And I received the splitter within a few days so really prompt and fast shipping. But as I had read with other reviews my splitter did arrive with damage. The real wheel assembly was bent such that it wobbles terribly when you move the splitter and it will not sit level no matter where I put it. In addition the control lever guard was also bent to the point you could barely get your hand around the hydraulic control lever. It was obvious that this VERY heavy splitter had been dropped on the heavy end though the box did not look all that bad but the inside packing was pretty torn up from being dropped. Better stronger packaging is needed both inside and out. But the splitter worked though the hydraulic valve that the control lever pushes on does stick about 50% of the time but with a little jiggling it will come unstuck. Yes I did contact Customer Service but they do not want me to discuss that aspect of this purchase in this review. I have used the splitter several times and been pleased with how it splits wood and the size of logs I can get it to split. It sure beats splitting wood by hand and if you only split small amounts of wood every once and a while then this is a satisfactory unit and sure easier to deal with than a gas powered one. One other suggestion would be to put a sticker on the splitter about the need to open the bleed screw before splitting any wood!

Received two broken log splitters

I would not recommend this product. The first one had a broken frame and the second one had an issue with the motor, would not spin, motor extremely tight. When asking for a refund they were only going to give me a credit. After refusing they finally gave me a full credit. There is a question if there is any quality control.

This is a nice log splitter for the money . It won't do big logs but it's just what you need for a small fireplace . . I would recommend putting the splitter on something up off of the ground to make it a better height for you to operate .That way you don't have to keep bending over if you have a lot of wood to split . Our Sun Joe splitter will not split Red Oak that's about the only bad thing I can say about it . It's very well built and great for the price .

Had a harder time with unseasoned wood. Was very disappointed with owners/operation manual, it was lacking on good instructions! Pleased with product though!

Split full bush cord in 1.5 days. Only issue was that it came fully assembled, but as it worked fasteners started to fall off. Went over all the fasteners and tightened them. Most were loose.
