A bit of a learning curve, but I'm delighted
on December 9, 2021

After several years of carrying Samsung Galaxy phones, my Pixel 6 took a bit of getting used to. (No surprise, of course.) But I have no regrets.Battery life? No longer do I have to plug in by early afternoon. The most I've drained the battery in a week is to 30%. I'm not streaming movies but have my nose in the phone a lot!Finger ID took some training of both the phone and myself but all is well. When entering my PIN, I am a little irritated to have to click the enter button.Loss of a back button (replaced by swipes) is still awkward for me. For example, horizontal scrolling of Google Sheets often dumps me back to my home screen. Photos are a delight, and Magic Erase is ... magical. The keypad seems tiny but I don't make nearly as many typos as I used to.I really like this phone.

It's okay

----- Pros -----* Fast* No annoying unnecessary apps* Battery life is good* Decent screen* Quite good camera. ---- Cons -----* No face unlock and thumbprint unlock is unreliable* Large, heavy and awkward to hold* The provided USB-C to USB-A adaptor seems not to work for writing to a USB storage advice didn't work - it seems only to allow read only access and charging - but this was very confusing because of unclear error messages in the Files app. ----------I will be keeping it because I don't see anything better around at this price at the moment.

Wi-Fi bug in Pixel 6
on December 9, 2021

I am at the moment very conflicted about the phone, mostly due to the bug that WiFi is suddenly dropping on the phone. It causes general malfunction of the phone, when the screen stutters and even the signal gets worse. No support from Google on this. I'm replacing the phone with Pixel 6 Pro. This model should not experience this bug, but I also have to spend additional money on the upgrade.Otherwise the phone is very slippery, almost impossible to use without a case. Makes your fingers hurt when operating for a while.Love the software experience, no apps pushed at me.Loud Speaker sound is weak. I have to turn the volume almost all the way up if there is some background noise (dishwasher, TV). But calls are very clear.Automatic screen brightness adjustment has a lot to desire too. The display is usually much darker than I need and puts strain on my eyes. If TV is the only source of light in the room, the brightness starts jumping up and down to adjust which gaves you big headache.

Pretty good so far.

Definitely an upgrade from the Pixel 3. Camera is great, battery seems strong, it's smooth and fast. Gestures are really close to an I phone, taking some time to get used to. Wish I could disable swipe left, or right for the "back button" but you can only disable both as far as I can tell. Can't find the cool clock in the commercials, the default clock on the lock screen is stupid looking. Sometimes Chrome and some apps won't continue to scroll down, you have to scroll up a bit, then you can scroll down. Hopefully that will get fixed in an update. 5G is unreliable so far, that's probably Verizon's fault. Visual voicemail doesn't work, phone says call Verizon. They can't fix it either so far. Other than that, I like it a lot.

Best camera ever, but won't link to hearing aids
on December 9, 2021

Size is perfect for me, similar to my Pixel 3. Camera takes wonderful photos, and love the magic eraser. Very responsive and able to modify settings to my liking. If it would link to my hearing aids (this is an acknowledged problem) I would have kept it. When this is resolved, I will buy another Pixel 6.

Great Phone just feels incomplete.

I upgraded from the OnePlus 6T and the Pixel 6 is so much better. The camera is great and I don't have an issue with using the fingerprint scanner. I am mostly just shocked their is no Face Unlock feature on a phone in 2021. I would gladly up this review to 5/5 stars when a software updates adds this feature.

Fingerprint scanner handicapped the phone
on December 9, 2021

I wish I could go back to my Pixel 4 in which the face login worked like a charm. The fingerprint scanner on my Pixel 6 is God awful. It has 20-30% success rate, even after 4-5 attempts. Most of the time it times out and I am forced to log in by typing my passcode. In the time of pandemic, I hoped that replacing my Pixel 4 with Pixel 6 would make my life easier to unlock my phone faster with masks on when I am out, but alas, it has gotten worse. Now no matter I am home or out, I am forced to unlock using passcode. I wonder how could Google certify such a bad sensor? The phone is also very bulky and top heavy compared to my Pixel 4, and I am not a fan of that either. Phone is pretty fast though, no complain in that front. Battery life is also better. Camera is okay, similar to Pixel 4. I still like my spouse's iPhone 13 camera better. Overall it's a very mediocre but over hyped phone in my personal opinion.

Not impressed, yet...

This is my third Pixel after owning 2xl and 3 xl in the past. My biggest complaint is the lousy fingerprint scanner. I'm hoping that it gets fixed with the upcoming update.
