a bit quirky

i am upgrading from a pixel 2, so of course this is a huge advance, but software so far a bit quirky--texts sometimes don't show notifications, need to restart to have them show or look at notifications directly. the voice recorder sometimes functions in a quirky manner--copying the text i just sent into the subject line so i have to delete it before writing a new text. the camera is pretty amazing. battery charging VERY slow. finger print scanner needs upgrade but it sounds like that is happening. overall, still markedly better functionality than old iphone, but i am hoping software upgrades take care of these odd issues
So far we haven't been blown away with the pixel 6. The phone seems really fragile and the big camera makes it a little top heavy so it wants to slide out of your pocket when you're sitting down. My phone was less than 2 days old when it slid out of my pocket while sitting and cracked the back in of the phone (dropped 1ft from the ground). I guess order your case before the phone because Google got the phone to me three days faster than the case and this is why I now have a cracked phone.I was out of town this last weekend and the phone wouldn't pick up a roaming service. My son, who is on the same plan as me had roaming service all weekend with the competitors phone. This has been the most frustrating part about the phone so far.Not impressed with the finger biometric sensor. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Camera seems pretty good though and I've taken some pretty nice pictures with it. The battery is also pretty good and has lasted all day.
Great phone. Solid functionality coupled with Google dynamics. Have been an Apple product user for decades but it was time to ditch the "fruit" and follow the android path. So much more possibilities and limitless options. Love the magic eraser feature that I would intentionally take pictures with other subjects just to see the marvel in using it. So much faster and reliable then most phones I have been using. The weight and size is perfect. Not too heavy like iphone 13 or the screen is not obscenely large that I am carrying a tablet. I upgraded from a pixel 5a and I am ecstatic that I made a really good decision.
We tend to be every-other-year phone purchasers. Because of the offsets for me, my wife, and our many kids, we tend to have someone buying a Pixel every year, either a numbered ("flagship") or an A release. As it happened, I bought two Pixel 6s this year (although the one I got for my wife is on backorder). I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, and it feels very solid. I'm not going to give a blow-by-blow recap of each feature; there are legions of reviewers that do that. I'm stating that in daily driver usage for an above-average geek user, the Six gives me nothing to complain about. Sure, could the fingerprint sensor be faster? Yes, but really, my unscientific tests put it at about 800ms. I can live with that. Honestly, if I had a quibble, it would be that it's too darn big. I'm a shirt-pocket phone carrier and have small hands, so have always preferrede more compact devices. But you know what? It fits in all my shirt pockets (some barely), and my old eyes dig the larger screen.
It is a learning experience from my Motorola G7 but so far glad I made the switch. I was concerned about the battery after having the G7 but so far it gets me through 2 days of normal use. I think the pictures are better than the G7. Still working on learning all the new features but would definitely recommend it.
I originally ordered the Pixel 6 Pro, but I had to switch to the Pixel 6 because the Pro was a little big for me. Now that I have my Pixel 6 I love it and most definitely recommend this phone. Good job Google
Switching from an iphone to the pixel 6 was easy but it took a week to backup date from iCloud to Drive. Negatives:Pixel 6 is rather heavy. The navigation without a home button takes a little getting used to. The weight balance of the phone is not ideal and tends to fall of my hand while I'm k try it not with both hands. It's hard to control the notificationsI can't seem to prioritize notifications, so a Facebook alert is the same as slack. Gesture are long (you need to move quite a bit for the gesture to register)Positives:Google autocorrect is much better than apple. Google assistant is fantastic. Android is great, I put in my sim card and everything worked (MMS, Sms, phone, data)Wish list:I wish there was a scroll button on the side of the phone. I wish the standard buttons (home, back, apps, running apps) would pop up with I did a quick swipe up gesture. With I could use bevel gesture for navigation rather screen based gesture.
