Still on the fence about this phone

After a couple of weeks' experience with the PIxel 6, I'm still not yet in love with this phone. I really miss the facial recognition feature of my Pixel 4. Maybe if the fingerprint unlock actually worked, I would feel better about it. Google Assistant is also refusing to cooperate with me. Had her going for a while when I uninstalled the app (please explain to me why THAT worked!) but now she's gone back on vacation. Do I need to uninstall again? Still waiting on the December update and hoping that will improve things. I do like the look and feel of the phone, just wish some of these issues would get resolved. Oh well, that's the risk you take with a new model of anything! I've been using Pixel phones for a while, so I'm still optimistic...
The fingerprint sensor and in general the ability to unlock the device is absolutely critical to the use of the device. It doesn't really matter what other fancy parts of the phone exist if the very basic process of unlocking the phone is hampered since you have to do that multiple times a day. It really detracts from everything else on the phone. It seems extremely short sided and ridiculous that this pathetic on-screen fingerprint reader was selected instead of a standard phone rear fingerprint reader, which would have been much more effective and reliable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointing that the phone isn't easier to learn and use. Takes great pictures but so does a camera! I got the phone despite disliking Google as a company and all they stand for but it wasn't worth it.
Overall it does everything my pixel 3 did. I have yet to find something it does better. It's pretty much the same phone and I don't really see any features that would prompt me to buy this phone over others as the camera hasn't changed much in 2 years. I would have preferred to buy a much cheaper 5a, but google purposely made that phone not work with the wireless chargers that I have.Couple things I find annoying: I don't really understand the whole gesture thing. I cursed at the phone repeatedly for not having a back button until I Googled how to turn off gesture. The fingerprint sensor on the front is slower and less accurate than the one in the back of pixel 3. For example if I just washed my hands it just doesn't work. You also have to leave your finger there for a second or longer whereas the pixel 3 sensor seemed instant. The restore of sms messages didn't work during migration from my old phone and I had to install a third party library on both phones to do it.
Love the phone. Has an absolutely great camera and feature set. Only small complaint is I'm having some issues with Bluetooth sound quality with older bluetooth speakers/systems. Not sure if it's specific to this mod l or any flagship running later versions.
I returned my Pixel 6XL because the charger port wouldn't accept my chargers. Same thing is happening with my Pixel 6. Not all of my chargers work...... Even the one they came with don't work properly. It goes in and out of charging. Buzzing constantly when plugged in because of the poor charger connection. Think I'll be returning this one as well......
