Disappointed

I REALLY wanted it to work out with google. I would like to go with a domestic company that isn’t Apple. I thought, “I use Google for everything else so why not my phone”. So my battery life barely made it through the day, it died on my way home from work. The phone got REALLY hot when I was talking on it. It was charging/ I was using it but my iPhone never did that. I could charge/use my phone at the same time all the time and never felt the blistering heat that this Google phone had. I was afraid to use it out of fear I would burn the internal hardware. And that was only 25 mins of use! Not even drastic usage. I would understand if I was streaming/gaming/Skyping then went used it for a call but I was on only a call for 25 mins before I had to hang up, I even tried unplugging it from the car charger to cool it, and then as I pulled into the drive it died from low battery. After research, I see the heating seems to be common with the Pixels. Which is super disappointing, also living life plugged in to the wall is super annoying. Also (first world problem) the camera tried too hard to focus or something it doesn’t handle well if you move/you better not have shaky hands. I almost needed a tripod just to capture a picture because it kept blurring trying to focus. Unfortunately I did end up switching back to my iPhone. I want to use Google but I’m hoping the 7 has these errors fixed/at least fixes the heating issue where you’re not talking on a ticking bomb.

Great Flagship Phone!

I upgraded from a Pixel 4XL that I loved, but this phone is a great upgrade. It is only slightly taller, but the screen is much larger because of the tiny bezels. Of course the camera is great, the screen is beautiful, the speakers are clear and sound great, it is pure Android, and it is fast..way faster than my 4xl. I was hoping for improved battery life over my 4xl, and I am not disappointed. After a week of use, I am having 40% battery left at the end of the day the last several days. Even the first days where played with it all day, I made it an entire day with no issues. Only the first day, when I did not charge it past 60%, did I run out of power, a lot to do with all of the app loading and updates, I am sure. Granted I am not a heavy user, but it is a big improvement over my 4xl. I was concerned about the look of the screen with the curved edges, but now that I am used to it, it is not an issue, and it really makes the scroll to the side buttery smooth. It also makes the phone look very premium. I am hoping for a good glass screen protector to protect it that will not affect the fingerprint reader, as I do worry about dropping it on the edge and damaging the screen, even with the case I have it in, as the case does not really protect the curved edge completely. I broke many glass screen protectors on my 4xl, and never damaged the screen. Until I can get a good screen protector, I will keep the phone in a soft pouch or a wallet case. As for the fingerprint reader, I read that some are having issues, but it works great for me, as long as I hold my finger/thumb on the screen long enough. Just a quick touch of the screen will not work. It really only takes a second or so to successfully read it, though. As for some Pixel 6 perks, the on phone voice texting is amazingly fast and accurate. I have not played much with the live translation, but I am looking forward to it. All in all, it is the best phone I have ever had.

Nice camera but seeing microscratches

The camera is pretty good, I like the feature of removing background people. The battery life is also good for me. But the phone is heavy. I also noticed a hairline scratch after 6 days of using it. It can be seen only in certain angle and lights. I never dropped the phone; and always kept it safe. I put a screen protector and now I can't see it from outside. I was thinking of returning it, but then I already trade in my prior device so I decided to keep rather than taking pains about returns. But that makes me think, how long can it stay without more scratches. It's also very slippery, so if you purchase it put it in a case very soon.

Excellent phone; weak modem

I am liking this phone, after being loyal to another brand for years. Nice screen and bigger than my previous phones.. I haven't explored all the camera can do. So far the fingerprint sensor has worked for me. My battery life is pretty good considering I'm using the phone all day because I'm recuperating from some surgery. I really like the ability to set up screen shots with two firm taps on the back of the phone - so much easier than contorting your fingers to press the button combination. My main complaint is the modem. I read somewhere that Google is using its own proprietary modem? or a modem that is somehow different than what everyone else is using. And it shows. Many times, my app or my browser window will just spin and do nothing until I give up and connect to my home wifi at which point everything buzzes along. I hope Google does some kind of firmware update, or even recalls these phones to replace the modem, because it's just substandard. I am still happy I have the phone, but this could be improved.
Unfortunately I ended up having to send the phone back. ItLocked up at least once a day and all supports reply was it was a bug.

Do not buy Google

Had this phone for just over a year. About 5 months end it would have a problem with overheating and not charging then would recover. Now just past the warranty it has completely stopped charging at all. Skip Google phones completely and stay with Samsung or try OnePlus.
