[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This computer is solid machine. The battery last me through the school day and into the afternoon with barely a fuss. Its quite for when its idly answering emails or filing out word documents.
Setting up the computer, after a few weeks of having it, was the only time I heard the fans hissing and spinning very fast. So its definitely more than capable to handle some intermediate work without a sound. With more intense workload such as opening up half a dozen hundred page word docs the computer handled extremely smoothly with barely a second to load.
If you are considering this as a school computer than its more than capable of handling your workload and saving to buy a newer version likely isn't necessary for most people looking for a fantastic work and school laptop.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The T14 gen 2 is the perfect size and weight for me. Not too strong and heavy but not too light and fragile. The anti glare screen allows you to work outdoors and the backlit keyboard allows you to work inside with the lights off. The touch pad is so smooth and is easy to use. It's fast and the case surface feels good. I ride my bike to work every day and I think this laptop will handle the vibrations better than others. I will keep you posted.
ThinkPads are rugged. When I was in sales we all had them and they lasted forever on the road. I left that company and purchased cheaper lighter laptops. Screens cracked and hinges broke even though they were in my padded bike bag. I decided to go back to strong ThinkPads and purchased the ThinkPad E495 14 first. It was too heavy, the screen too dark and the edges a bit too sharp. Sure you could probably use it for homeplate in baseball and it would keep working but it was a bit too rugged. I returned it and when with the T14 and love it. it is much more sturdy than my old dell and hp laptops but lighter and leaner than some entry level ThinkPads. Only complaint so far is I wish the screen would get a bit brighter outdoors but it is way better than the E495 screen
