Discoloration hazard

This item is WAY overpriced for what it is. However, we want the kitchen to look nice, so we spent the money. It's been in for a couple months and looked good until this evening. After cooking dinner in the oven, we noticed this white, hazy discoloration in the middle of the back splash, where the vent fan blows. I tried to gently wash it off and it isn't coming off. For the price, this thing should be better quality. Makes my kitchen look unclean.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Greetings!
It can be really frustrating when something you invest in for the kitchen doesn’t maintain its appearance as expected. We wish to provide context to your experience.
Black stainless steel can discolor or turn white when exposed to heat due to several factors:
1. Heat Sensitivity: Black stainless steel typically has a black oxide or PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating, which gives it its dark appearance. High temperatures can cause this coating to break down or discolor, leading to a fading or lightening of the color. The heat can cause the surface to lose its dark finish and potentially appear lighter or even white in some cases.
2. Oxidation: Stainless steel is prone to oxidation when heated, even if it has a protective coating. When exposed to high heat, the oxide layer that forms on the metal surface may interact with the heat, causing discoloration or the formation of white spots. This happens because of the changes in the structure of the coating or the metal beneath it.
3. Temperature and Surface Reactions: Extreme heat, such as from a high-powered stove, grill, or oven, can cause the protective black coating to deteriorate or warp, exposing the raw stainless steel underneath. The base metal can then react with the surrounding environment (including oxygen) and form oxidation or scale, which can appear as white or light-colored spots.

Installed in February and now it is discoloring. My guess is the heat from the oven vent is causing the issue. Not sure why that would be the case if it’s real stainless steel.

Smitty, we love to get more details about your back guard discoloring so that we can help you.
Please feel free to get back to us via the following options:
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Adds to great appearance of our Bespoke induction range & gives a finished appearance against our backsplash.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We learned that our tile didn’t go all the way down , it was way cheaper than calling tile man . It gives finish look and prevent stuff from falling behind
i loved the low profile of our new samsung stove, but unfortunately there was a little gap between it and the wall. to make it worse, our wall backsplash ended where the counter began so our 'clean' look that i loved so much wasn't so clean looking and annoyed me (slightly) every time i cooked. glad to find this backsplash - easy to attach, fits perfectly and when/if i redo the kitchen i can always remove and get my low profile back. it's solid, and narrow - so no, i can't put anything on it like salt/peppers shakers, etc. but i find that a plus (keeps it neater.) highly recommend if you are in a similar situation as i was with the gap. [note: i see others put reviews and were compensated in some way. i bought this without any incentive and am highly impressed.]
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use my range every day. I’d have to say the convection and regular bake works wonderfully and accurately. I don’t love the cook top ring options. It takes a long time to boil water and cook pasta, which I do frequently. It is difficult to get cooked on messes off the glass top but I knew that going in. I like the bake features like bread proof and dehydration although I haven’t used them yet.
