defective refrigerator

bought refrigerator. from day 1 it didnt work properly. technicians looked at fridge. they said i should get a new refrig. ge said NO!!!! it needs a new compressor, an evaporator cover, and a duct tower. one pice won't be in until mid october. numerous calls are getting negative results. temps of refrig around 40, freezer temp 25. food is spoilong.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Buyer beware!

Not my favorite fridge I work in a luxury town home community that is used this model for their fridges across most of our properties the problem that I deal with the most with these fridges are frozen water components for some reason they felt the engineering of these fridges was okay to allow for the evaporator fan to blow chilled air directly on the water supply line for the ice maker... I get constant calls for frozen ice makers
The other number one failure or the door hinges these units do not handle door swing well they break quickly and you need to replace the bushings often.
The last thing is this is not a maintenance friendly fridge any work that needs to be done usually has to be done in the freezer... Even the smallest technicians have trouble fitting into these things resulting in required removal of doors and major components just to gain access to minor issues...

And my biggest complaint the worst complaint is the cost of parts why on Earth do minor pieces cost major percentage of the value of this fridge not okay the concept of buying things built in other countries was supposed to be cheaper not more cost inefficient
At least it'll work for a while...
Not my professional choice for a decent dependable model in the fridge market!

We definitely want to help clear up the frozen water situations you are noticing. The main cause of this is having low food load in the refrigerator. Cold air is heavy and will settle at the bottom of the compartment, and if there is not enough food to absorb the cold air, it can cause the water in the tank to freeze. Also, we are going to pass along the feedback about the handles and the access to the compartments to our product and design team. That way we can continue implementing improvements.

Great unit, only one flaw

Really like the looks and functionality of unit; it comes with a thin clear plastic film covering the front of fridge I am assuming to protect it from scratches until it is in place...but that film is very hard to get off and I still have small pieces of it trapped in the seams...would like it better if I didn't have to experience the removal or the reminder of it whenever I look at the edges

Light Up The Cool World!

What a change in lighting. You can actually see items anywhere in the fridge or freezer with great lighting. The Turbo Cool feature works great. No more bending to see or change settings. Easy to read functions, and the ability to set fridge and freezer temps. A nice product.

I bought this July 7th and on August 30th both the fridge and freezer quit working. Not confident that the repairs will last when such a new appliance goes bad. Love the looks though.

Recently purchased,my wife and I are very happy with the way it looks as well as its many features. Shelves inside as well as on the door are solid. The units lighting is Awsome in both the freezer and refrigerator.

Our remodeled kitchen space for a frig is limited so having this new GE frig at 3" narrower than the LG we sent off is a real treat. But the cubic area inside is great. Really glad we made the decision to go GE!

Poorly Designed Ice Maker

I purchased this refrigerator 8 months ago and just scheduled a 3rd service appointment to repair the ice maker. Very poor design where water just runs down the back of the freezer and freezes there.
If you have lots of free time during the day to wait around for repairmen and don't mind buying bags of ice at the gas station, get a GE fridge.
