I had nursed an old refrigerator freezer because it was a built-in and I didn't want to destroy cabinetry. Finally it died. It was pure luck that this LG was available, and I redid my entire kitchen with LG products. I have been delighted! This side-by-side is beautiful, and even the interior lighting is exceptional. It is quiet, multi shelved, storage remarkable easy to access, and the exterior ice cube/water dispenser practical and convenient. Very happy! should have bought it sooner.

LG quality is not worth the price.

Very disappointed with LG and have been a loyal customer for years and every other appliance I own is LG. I will be replacing it with another brand.

We have had the water in the dispenser frozen requently. Still waiting for replacement door to arrive for repair. This frig is said to be "stainless steel" where I bought it, but actually "stainless steel finish" on plastic

Overall, we are very happy with this fridge/freezer. We love its storage space, water dispensing unit, etc. The reason for only 4 stars is because the refrigerator door mechanism recently stopped working. By this I mean that the door used to close (and open) slowly, cushioned by some mechanism to slow it down. So, if you left the door slightly ajar, it would slowly draw itself closed. Likewise, when one opened the door, there was some resistance, so that one couldn't just fling the door open too quickly.
Well, now that doesn't work. We have a 5-year maintenance plan, so we had the technician out. It seems that the adjustment or fix for this is located behind the unit, not in front as the freezer door side has it. This means that to fix what is admittedly a minor inconvenience, the entire built-in unit would have to be pulled out! This requires coordination between two companies, and it simply not worth the hassle. I think this is poor engineering from LG, like placing the water pump in a car so that the entire engine needs to be removed to fix it.
Otherwise, we love the fridge! We just have to be careful not to fling the door open too quickly.

Ice Maker is the only flaw

I've had this refrigerator for over a year. It is nice looking and reliably cold. My frustration has been with the ice maker. It does not work as it should.
1. When the ice fills to certain point, the bar is supposed to come out to stop ice production on its own. I don't know if it's ever done this. I tend to hear a grinding noise coming from the freezer. When I open the door, the ice has over flowed to the very top, and the new ice that's trying to pop out cannot due to space--thus, the grinding noise. I end up having to turn it off entirely and wait until I've used more of the ice.

2. When the bar is down, which happens on occasion, and has stopped making ice. I then have to reset it. I do what I'm supposed to do by putting a paperclip into the tiny pinhole on the side for 3-5 seconds, and...nothing happens. I put the clip in again and again and nothing happens. I've given up and just put the ice bucket back on and go about my day. Later I notice the bar has moved back but not at the point of reset.
3. I shouldn't have to reset my ice maker so much! It is the only thing I have to regularly do to keep it functioning. I've never had to do anything like this with any other ice maker I've had.
So...it's really the bar. It's unreliable and unpredictable, making regular "repairs" necessary.
