I love this griddle! I had been eyeing the Tailgater for my travel trailer for a while, but when I had the chance, I got the 28" with the hard cover for my home instead. As a hobbyist fabricator, I was impressed with the quality of the metal this product is made with. Everything is heavy gauge. The assembly is so simple. I'm not a huge fan of the plastic knobs, and the ignitor seems cheap, but we'll see. I imagine they will hold up just fine and if not, Blackstone has them listed on their website as replacement parts.
I am planning to build a backyard BBQ/grille station and this griddle will be hard mounted in a concrete countertop, so I did not attach the side tables, but even those are made from impressively thick metal. I was not sure what size to go with, but for my family of four, the 28" has ample room for whatever meat plus veggies or bread on it all at the same time.
I love cooking outdoors, usually on my charcoal kettle, but my wife LOVES the char and flavor this griddle gives to food. I just did burgers, veggies, and peppers on it last night and even though she is used to my amazing cooking skills, she commented on how the flavor of everything was somehow just better. No need to use my cast iron skillet and make a mess all over the stove, now I just go outside!
