Heat issue.

Just assembled and tried seasoning today. The griddle never got hot enough to cause the vegetable oil to smoke. I put a grill thermometer on the griddle while it was on high after 20 minutes. It never got above 250. I tried the troubleshooting of disconnecting the bottle and regulator, waiting and trying it again. Same issue. I tried cooking some bacon and it took forever to cook it. Not operating as I expected. I had a 22" model and it heated up great and got really hot. I gave it away when I got this one as we don't need that big of a griddle. It should get hotter than. 250 shouldn't it on high??? Please advise how to address. Thank you.
