Just got this as a gift and have not used yet, but the grease cup design is not good.
The removable inserts have to mangled to put them in and, I’m assuming, will be challenging to remove once full of grease.

I am just now seasoning the bed. Fired up first time. Cooling it off to dry bacon and continue to season. The 1971 is a well built griddle.
