I am truly astonished that there have not been any reviews posted on this amazing little contraption! My husband and I both wait tables for a living and own many Homedic devices, but this one has become our favorite. It feels like someone is gently manuvering your spine in yoga style stretches for optimal relaxation and is energizing at the same time! Highly recommended and a nice complement to their massagers!

Maybe It's Just Me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Other reviews of this are all pretty great, so I had high expectations. While it is pretty cool - you just lay there and it inflates and deflates different parts of your back and hips to stretch and twist you - I didn't find I was getting any kind of meaningful stretch even on full intensity. Maybe I'm too tall (6'2") and it's hitting me in the wrong places. Or maybe it's because I do a lot of stretching anyway so this was just too mild. But I didn't feel like I got much benefit afterwards. However, if you're older and/or not very mobile, I could see this being a great way to get a daily stretch. Maybe I'm just not the right customer for this product.

Good But Frustrating

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This mat is a little frustrating at times. When you are positioned perfectly on the mat everything works amazingly. You get the right stretch and feel great. But when you are off just a little everything could be a bit painful. The biggest problem is that there are no instructions for how to use it other than how to turn it on and use the remote. Positioning is definately the key to this mat working correctly and it may not work for all different sized people. I am 5'7" and have had good and bad experiences with it. My husband is 5'10" and said he had trouble finding the right position to get the most out of the stretching feature. My son is 5'8" and said he really likes how it works and feels. I just wish there were actual instructions on how to get the most out of this mat because it can be really great when it works. If you are willing to put the time in with trial and error then I'm sure you can get some positive results.
Bought one 3 months ago, enjoyed the stretching so much, bought another one as a gift. I have several lower back injuries, as well as an injury to one of my SI joints. So, by the end of a day, I usually have aches. This back and shoulder stretcher does an incredible job. I personally don't use the 2nd and 3rd programs at highest strength, since they are too intense for me at that level.
If I had one suggestion for improvement on this otherwise excellent product, it would be that it would not deflate when one hits the pause button. This would allow one to extend the duration of a stretch past what is programmed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Impressive Back Mat!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a wonderful opportunity to sample this HoMedics Air Compression Back Stretching Mat! When I opened the box, I saw that the mat folded very nicely, and has a convenient handle to carry. The material that the mat is made up of is very soft, and feels silky smooth. HoMedics also includes a puffy, soft pillow that velcroed to the very top of the mat. It's made with impressive quality.
I opened the mat on the floor (on top of my throw rug), and placed the pillow on the top of the mat, and proceeded to lie down. I attached the power cord from the mat to the power cord that plugs in the wall (it's a long plug too, thank goodness) and pressed the power button on the remote control (it's attached to the mat). I first tried the "Stretch" button on the remote, and the air inflated and gave my back a wonderful stretch. The mat has an airbag that fills up on my lower back, and it remains in position for about 30 seconds, then deflates. Each stretch lasts about 30 seconds before it deflates. I couldn't believe that it actually cracked my back!! The second button I tried was "Energize", and this one was my favorite. It completely stretches out areas of the upper back, middle and lower. The next was the "Flow" button, and that gave me air stretches all up and down my back. The last one was "Twist", which was unbelieveable. It actually moved my torso into a torso twist, all with the airbag. I tried the low, medium and high intensity with each program button, and my favorite was medium and high. Lastly, there's a "Suspend Button" that can pause one of the programs so I could take a break (the airbags deflate).
When I was done, I couldn't believe how easy it was to unplug, fold the mat and put it away. The pillow has a velcro strip on the outside of the mat, and the remote control has a pouch located on the side of the mat. I slipped the folded mat into the clear bag it came packaged with, and conveniently put it away in my closet. The mat is so thin, that it didn't take up hardly any space in my closet. I was able to place it against the wall.
I'm extremely happy with my mat, and use it almost every day for about 10 minutes. It's already improved my circulation in my lower back, and I definitely feel an improvement in my mid-torso. This mat is a must have for anyone who needs back relief with stretching!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had no idea what to expect from this product...all I knew was that my back often tightens up throughout the day, and I spend most evenings lying prone, trying to loosen it up. When I read the the title of the product, HoMedics Air Compression Back Stretching Mat, I was certainly intrigued, but very skeptical. But I took a chance, and I am ecstatic to say, I'm a skeptic no more!! Great job HoMedics, you really knocked it out of the park with this one!
I didn't think air compression would really do much, but how wrong I was...this mat puts on quite a workout! There are four settings, and Flow is my favorite. You simply choose a setting, and the intensity, and lie back and let it do its thing. Sections of the mat inflate or deflate, stretching the back. It is amazing. And powerful! And specific. This isn't like lying on an air mattress as it inflates...it targets certain areas, inflates specifically, then moves on to other portions of the back. It really is quite remarkable that pockets of air can do such heavy work (I am not small!)
The hardest part to using this is stopping...I find myself wanting to stay aboard all night! Fortunately it folds up and can be slipped inconspicuously almost anywhere (mine lives between the wall and the back of the couch.
Its simple to use, massively comfortable, and well made. I have no idea how long the product will last, but it is a joy to use, and worth it weight in gold to me!
Great job HoMedics...definitely, highly recommend!
I’ve only used my mat a few times and at first I thought it was just a nothing bc I didn’t really feel much so I put it full power. big mistake. started over & experimenting on the different stretches on LOW for now. But I love it & worth the investment!

Worth every penny !!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying I'm a 38 year old male with back and hip problems/pain. I was recently diagnosed with arthritis in 3 different spots on my spinal cord and been seeing a chiropractor for the past month, twice a week. I really wanted to find a "remedy" to do in the comfort of my home. As soon as I receive the mat in the mail, I was on the floor laying on it. Wow, I was taken by surprise at how good it made my back feel. You just need to plug it in, lay on it and set the intensity (3 levels) and program you like the massage (twist, flow, energize, stretch ). I use the highest intensity level and I prefer to have it on stretch. This mat popped my back in a way the chiropractor wasn't able to. I'm just so grateful something like this is available on the market and to buy at a very reasonable price. To me, is worth every penny because I'm able to live without constant back pain and able to get a good massage and great back stretch.
