A little bit of peace!

This is the best purchase I could have made. First time Mom, here! So of course I bought it partly because I’m paranoid and partly because for work, I live in a country that has few medical facilities and the closest ER is 2 hours away. I wanted some piece of mind in case I had to go to the hospital, I wanted a head start.
When my baby was about 4 months old, I got the dreaded red alert ‘Low Oxygen’. I jumped off of the couch where I was doing work and my husband has never run up the stairs so fast. Turns out my little one decided to turn over and sleep on is tummy with his face and nose completely pressed to the mattress. As soon as I picked him up, he took the biggest breath and I have never been so relived in my life! He hasn’t mastered turning himself back over so it had to be done for him.
He doesn’t sleep without it now and I am able to get some rest without checking on him every 5 minutes to make sure he is breathing. This, by far, is my favorite purchase of any baby item.
The only thing I wish it would do is work in hotels with their WiFi. I often have to travel and because hotels usually make you have a second log on, the Owlet doesn’t pick up the network. I will try it next time with my phone’s hot spot.
I also wish I could just buy a second sock component without base station. It’s always good to have extras.

I never had issues with my unit, my baby was a preemie and was on oxygen 20 days. When he left his oxygen stood around 95-96%. I didn’t actually see a 100% until he was about 2 months. I only had one false alarm with a fast heart rate. It wasn’t much he just had a little heart murmur: but it was helpful to know what was going on. Now he’s 7 months and I use it to monitor his sleep. We’re sleep training. To me this was a helpful tool. I had purchased a swing when he was 1 month old and during one afternoon the alarm went off, turns out his little leg was tangled under him and cutting circulation, it was a little purple causing his heart rate monitor to go off, immediately I untangled it and he was fine. I did notice though that when he slept on the mamaroo and the swing his oxygen went down to 90 sometimes 89. I def did not let him sleep there, as soon as he fell asleep I would transfer him to the bassinet. It’s interesting that I would find this with the owlet.

My son was in the nicu due to oxygen problems, so I decided to get the owlet smart sock 2 when we got home and it has brought me such peace of mind. I can sleep at night knowing if anything was to happen to my baby, owlet would alert me! I haven’t had any issues with it whatsoever and I couldn’t imagine not having it!

One year later

My son just turned one August 1. A month before, we got our first red alarm. His oxygen dropped very quickly to 41% and we were unable to wake him. This wasn’t a little two week old or a premature baby, but a perfectly healthy, empty crib and sleeping on his back baby. We were able to react quickly because of the alarm waking us in the dead of night. Thank you!
P.s. we never got lost signal alarms unless we placed it wrong(my husband only took 8 months to listen) just put a sock on the foot that is being used so babe can’t kick it off!!

I had a hard time sleeping when my son was born three years ago- I found myself awake in the middle of the night just watching him breathe to make sure he was okay. I feel like the smart sock 3 does that for me now, so I can actually sleep! The sock, base station, and app are very easy to use. I struggled the first couple of nights to get the sock fitted to my baby’s foot correctly, so I got many yellow alerts. Once I figured out how to put the sock in correctly, I haven’t had a single false alarm. Absolutely love the peace of mind! My only suggestion would be for owlet to make an informational video showing and explaining very slowly how to put the sock on for first time users.

Sock disconnects too often

It gives me good peace of mind when it’s working but it keeps me up at night because the sock disconnects so often. Nothing changes, he’s not far from base, he’s in the same spot all night then all of sudden it disconnects. It is the most annoying thing. If the sock has a hard time saying connecting it also drains the battery so now at 3:15 AM his sock his dead even though it charges all day.

I can't say enough good about this product

My twin daughters were born at 28 weeks so I'm well used to the pulse ox world. I had intended to buy an owlet for each girl but ended up not needing to. When twin A came home (only on a small amount of oxygen that was soon no longer needed), we used the owlet for a good 2 months since we were still so worried from the preemie "they forget to breath" experience. When Twin B came home 2 months after Twin A, she came home on oxygen and has numerous health issues. We were provided a hospital-grade pulse ox machine however the machine plus temporary pulse ox connectors were so horrible it never picked up her actual stats and was dinging all the time (babies move guys!). It kept us up constantly. We ended up even trying a different machine. We decided to start using the Owlet for her as well and would use it side by side with the pulse ox machine and would always be spot on. The Owlet picked up the signal more often too. Now 7 months later, we only use the hospital-grade machine as a double check when needed and she's much more stable in her oxygen needs (still on oxygen). Owlet now only alarms when she's taken her cannulas out which is exactly what we need. I having the data via the app is absolutely priceless as I never got that with the hospital-grade machine. We upgraded to the Sock 3 as soon as it came out and it made all of the little things that were annoying about the Sock 2 so much better! Completely worth the upgrade (even though our Sock 2 was perfectly fine). Now we keep it on her most of the day- except to charge then back on her. We still keep an eye on her and question if there is an alarm. The only time it has alarmed in error, we knew we had the sock too loose on her foot. Tightened it and she was fine.
I have 2 wishes for future versions for the Owlet: 1. Make it hospital-grade! This product is FAR superior to anything currently on the market. I have spent many months with my girls in the hospital, even after NICU life and I am constantly annoyed with the current sensors always going off, being replaced, and the nurses saying "well, that's clearly not accurate, she looks fine!" I have even talked to pulmonologists who wish that Owlet could come into this market and fix the concept like Uber changed taxis.
2. Put some battery life in the base station. I would love to be able to "be mobile" with my owlet- use it in the car or in case our power goes out is really my main concern. Since oxygen is going to be a long term need for Twin B, she is on an oxygen concentrator and my biggest fear is loosing power.

We were gifted our daughter’s owlet from my brother and sister-in-law who loved having an owlet for their daughter (my niece). We are really finding the device to be great to have! Our baby was born 7.5 weeks early, and she spent 17 days in the NICU. Going home presented a lot of anxiety, but we felt better knowing we’d have access to her heart rate and oxygen levels because of the owlet! 10/10 recommended!
