Works great with Xbox Series X

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After I got the Xbox Series X I though I would have enough space with 1TB included with the console, but as the games get bigger and bigger it ran out of space quickly. The Seagate Firecuda Gaming Hard Drive was the perfect solution. The hard drive is very small and has all the storage I will need for the life of the console. It has a sleek design with the changing lights. It has worked really well and was very easy to set up out of the box.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Needed a 5TB backup drive for my data. Chose the Firecuda because of the attractive price. Drive works well, typical writ speed is 70 to 85 MB/s. So far so good.

God Awful For Gaming

I just had my Firecuda come in the other day and downloaded a few games from my library.. firstly, the download speed was terrible, the disk kept throttling itself? it would download for 3 seconds and then the disk would stop for a solid 15-20sec. But i figured it being a Hard Disk, it was gonna be slower than any SSD. I then decided to launch one of my games from the drive.. I had to wait 15 minutes before i even saw the main menu of my game. Then when i started playing, it was even worse. Couldn't move 5 feet in my game without the hard drive needing a moment to catch up, freezing my frames for 10 seconds at a time.
If you are looking for a good external to keep your gaming library on, LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. This is not the product a gamer wants.

*STAY AWAY*
I got the 1TB version since it has decent space on it and I was just going to use it for a few of the bigger games that I have. I go to plug it in everything is fine, I register the device and start to download a game off of Steam. It took 3 hours to verify space. I think "Okay maybe it's normal since it's an external drive" (Never had any issues with using my console one) then I go to install a 20gb game, takes 2 or 3 minutes to verify space and about 20 minutes to install. I go to play the game, and it pops up with something along the lines of "something wrong with the driver" and the game crashes. I go to back up my files, to the "repair driver step" and then when I try to play the game again, it does it again. I try the other game I installed it does the same thing. I repeat the steps about 5 times, and then it says it doesn't have the game executable, and that windows doesn't recognize the driver, and makes the "jingle noise" on repeat when a USB device disconnects.
So anyway, I'm trashing it. I do not recommend.
The ease of use is fine right off the bat, but then when you go to install and try to play a game, it just won't let you. I got as far as loading in from the menu on the smaller game when it froze and crashed. The larger game just pulled up the "game executable" notification.
The storage space is fine, but wasn't going to wait and download more games until I knew for sure that it would work (It will not).
Value is pitiful for what you're getting out of it (thrown instantly)
