I recently purchased this and found that instead of a whisper it sounds more like an old xerox machine making copies. my husband and I laughed about it but it really is kind of disruptive when you use it. Maybe the more expensive versions are quieter but I am very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
