I had a Mobile Pixels attachable monitor previously, but it was hard to slide the monitor in and out of the track. It was made of flimsy plastic and despite being careful I broke the tabs. The SideTrak design works much better and is less fragile. It also does not require any software download and I was able to start using it right away.
Screen is good. Attachment magnet works well. Resolution a little fuzzy. DisplayLink software does not seem to work with Mac Monterey - but is not needed.
Requires two cords for both my MacBook and my Dell (and actually doesn't work on Mac either way). On Dell, the computer always thinks there are 2 extra monitors instead of one once I plug it in, and windows will often open on the ghost monitor that doesn't exist (and I can't see). The screen quality and brightness are ok, it's convenient having it attach to side of laptop rather than needing additional table or lap space. But if these issues can't be resolved, not sure it will be worth it for me.
A couple colleagues of mine have second screens and they are so clunky compared to the SideTrak. This one is simple to set up, resolution is great and the display connects seamlessly with my primary screen. The best part is that it folds right onto the lid of my laptop when I travel and fits in my laptop sleeve. After finding this product I was so excited that I ordered the wrong size before measuring my laptop. When I contacted SideTrak by email, they were quick to respond and cancelled my order so that I could immediately purchase the correct size screen. I wish I had a photo to share. I am very impressed.
