Easiest Set Up Ever!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my parents, and I could not believe how easy it was to preprogram and set up. I figured it out myself! I anticipated having my kids help, but in the end was able to pre-load pictures and do everything myself, and then once I gave it to my parents, we only needed to connect it to their wifi. Likewise, inviting others to join has been super easy and even my parents figured out how to add pictures quickly! Wonderful product!

Terrific hardware, poor software

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I mostly photograph with a decent DSLR camera because I care about the quality of my pictures. I have been waiting ever since digital frames came on the market for a frame that would do justice to my pictures. I finally found that frame in Razor Luxe. The pictures on this frame look razor sharp with reasonably accurate colors across the whole gamut. There are no annoying artifacts. This is the best picture frame screen I have ever seen. The frames I tried years ago in contrast were intolerably bad and had to be returned. The screen of this frame alone makes it worthwhile for me to keep the Mason Luxe. I also like how the frame itself looks - nice, but neutral. It looks appealing, but does not distract from the pictures it displays.
Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I purchased this frame knowing that my photos taken by a DSLR would have a slightly different aspect ratio than this frame's screen, since this frame is optimized for smartphone photos. That was fine with me. I assumed that I would be able to configure the frame to just display my photos with margins. Instead, I was surprised to discover that the frame just crops my photos. An even bigger issue is that photos with different orientation than the frame are treated the same way! They are just cropped and the result is usually unusable. That means that whether one uses a phone or a camera to take pictures, one can never view both vertical and horizontal pictures on the same frame. That is inexcusable for a frame that costs this much!
My other issue is with how the frame orders the pictures to be displayed. I have a lot and wanted to be able to look at them in random order. The frame was designed to do just that, but even this does not work well. The best I can tell, the frame grabs a few sequential blocks of photos at a time and then very poorly mixes them and keeps displaying the same subset of photos for many hours. As a result, I have to keep looking at the same photos all day long. Photos from different events are all bunched together with an occasional photo from a different event stuck in-between. Even when I look at the photos displayed over many days, there are some that I see many times a day every day and others that hardly ever show up. This frame is horrible at the one thing it was actually designed to do: to display all photos in random order. This has been a big source of frustration for me.
There are also some other minor gripes, non of which are deal breakers, but I thought I'd mention them. For the price, I was surprised how barebones the software on this frame is (both the app and the firmware). There is no way to manually adjust base screen brightness and no way to adjust the light sensor's sensitivity. My frame is in a darker room and on a gloomy day it shuts off during the day unless I turn on the lights.
There is no selection of transition effects. There is no way to see EXIF data on the frame. Once images are uploaded to the frame there is now way to download them back. (There are use cases where that might come in handy.)
The online photo upload tool works well, but it does not automatically log out when the session expires. I once spent hours adding photos to the frame using the online upload tool I had open from the previous day only to lose all that work when I hit the upload button and the tool gave me an error message.
The "like" feature seems random given that all the other bare necessities are missing from the frame. I never fully figured out how it works and there is zero documentation of this feature.
The fact that you have to wait until the frame goes through the full batch of photos it loaded when switching between random and chronological modes can be annoying to users. I personally don't intend to switch modes (just did it once out of curiosity when I got the frame and spent a lot of time trying to figure out why the frame was ignoring my settings). However, for someone who switches back and forth often, this can be a big deal. This is a poorly designed feature and at the very least, the UI should give some sort of a warning when a user switches the photo display order telling them that their changes won't take effect for a while.
That said, I appreciate that the software, however imperfect it might be at the moment, is rock stable. The one expired session issue I already mentioned aside, I have had absolutely no problems using the online upload tool, the Android app or the frame itself. You guys are doing a great job with QA!

Perfect family gift for seeing grandchildren grow
