I was wanting to give this lamp five stars, until I turned it on today and it began flickering. Of course I've checked the plug. It's been turned on less than 20 times; not sure if I am going to return it for another. What I wanted to write about was how beautifully it illuminates my artwork. I use interference pigments that are magical in the right light, otherwise, they're almost invisible. This OttLite brings out their magic with a clean, pure white light. I've used OttLite lamps for painting and sculpting for years and like the flexibility and versatility of this clamp-on model very much. I really hope this flickering stops!

I believe that the negative reviews are from customer mishandling of this product... it is a wonderful easel light, but you must handle it with care and not be rough with it.

I have been working with three different light sources, but still my colors were misrepresented until I added the Ott lights. I put one on my easel and one over my palette. After completing a portrait under these lights, I took my painting outside and my colors were dead on. I am so happy with the results and I can now paint on dark rainy days and at night. I can now paint whenever I want. Thanks Ott light for an amazing light.

Cheap plastic clamp

Cheap, brittle plastic clamp broke after a year of gentle use. I had it clamped to my desk most of the year, but then started to use it on my easel, and the metal spring broke through the plastic shell of the clamp. When I try to use it now, the metal spring cuts into my hand and hurts, causing the light to be unusable for the intended purpose. It now sits in a box, unused. This light is too expensive to be using such cheap parts.
It is bright, and I really liked it before it broke. It broke a few months past the 1 yr warranty date, and I am now left feeling ripped-off. :(

Wonder how I went so long without my easel LED Lamp. I absolutely love it. On a cloudy day I now have light as bright as if I were standing outside on a sunny day. Perfect.

I've had this lamp for a couple months now, and for the first month or so I had no issues. After about a month though, the light began to stop working. Now, it lasts about an hour before it suddenly turns off. After about 30 seconds, it'll turn on again, and then off again. This becomes extremely frustrating when trying to use it to paint for extended periods of time. Other than that though, It's quite nice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
