Took my son about 20 hours to build, he thoroughly enjoyed it and I loved watching him build the truck

Fun to build, fun to control

Very powerful truck. I can't find/make a ramp long enough to do the climb test, so instead I have it tow heavy items. The heaviest so far is a bin full of assorted LEGO, it is about 50 lb (~22.7 kg) It's a challenge attach a tow rope without it popping the truck apart

This set deserved better. Will become a classic

A lot of people were critical of this set due to its price and not being a "realistic" truck trial model, but to be honest its a great set with lots of mechanical functions, suspension, lots of gears, 3 differentials, 4 motors, etc; and I believe people in the future will give this model the credit its due. To all the critics, remember LEGO its still mostly a toy for children, and this set fulfills that role perfectly.

This is what it's supposed to be

I think other reviews of this truck don't consider what this truck is supposed to be. This truck has amazing torque and the rear locking differential is awesome! I have put this bad boy through some paces and the steering and handling, the overall ability of a vehicle this size and length to get through an obstacle course is downright fun. The kit goes together swell, the instructions are good and the build is solid. The kit comes with flags to set up obstacle gates so you can set up a course around the yard or house. If you don't set up a course you are missing out, this truck can climb like a champ! It's fun to come up to an obstacle and not get over it, see the lack of traction even though it's 4 wheel drive and then engage the rear diff lock and watch it walk right over it. This truck is heavy and bigger than you think it is. It's slow but that makes it easy to move around incredible tight spots and rough terrain. Lots of fun. I did put a small patch of black duct tape along the inside of the door jambs to snug up the fit, the fit is good, but they will flop open when you get the truck off camber, one lil piece to fill in the gap is all it took. I have had the front hood flop open on me but that was also at an extreme down hill angle, you can't be upset with gravity when the truck is going to these impossible places. When you roll it you will have to put some stuff back on, it's not the most durable in the details department.

Big Upgrade

So From the minute the set was officially released to the public, I knew I had to make drastic changes which is what I did. So I added additional axle and converted to crew cab. Replaced the rinky dink tires it came with 3rd party tires made out of real rubber. Looks much better and can climb between 49-54 degrees angles with zero issues.

I am in awe of the locking differential on this truck and the 4 motors that run the vehicle. I own the Claas tractor anthe Mack anthem batwing and the new tumbler. I am 44 and still love Legos since the 80,s. The new Bluetooth remote hub is awesome. I hit a 39 degree climb on my sons long skateboard it was amazing. This truck is a powerhouse and I am driving it as we speak thank you Lego for suck an amazing vehicle

I have purchased many Lego sets in the past, but this is my first time leaving feedback. I purchased this set when it first came out, saw the reviews thinking I may have made a bad purchase. I finally had the chance to build it, and felt the need to share my thoughts on the product. The build itself was enjoyable, especially the new lock differential, and the final appearance is quite impressive in itself. Lego definitely put a lot of work into the product and it shows in the details. Yes, I would have wanted a “functional” engine, or larger tires, or a 6x6, but overall the final build worked out quite well. The speed is quite slow, but this set was built to climb, and go over obstacles, the torque is very impressive. I would recommend this set for others, best to see it yourselves. I hope Lego continues to produce more along these lines.

Amazing thing

It is a very good set as there is a fair number of piece count however some adjustments could be made. e.g., the hood could be more secure and so could the door, which easily open when on a descent. The gear ratio is very slow but it works for a ramp. Speaking of which, the climbing ability is amazing! The new tires really affect.

We're sorry your new set isn't working as expected! Some rebuilding might help to secure any pieces that seem loose, as long as you make sure that each piece is in the exact position shown in the instructions and that everything's pressed together firmly (except the gears, which need some extra room to turn). If you need help, reach out at LEGO.build/Service-BV so we can make sure it's ready for any terrain!
