I really enjoyed this saw. Great cuts, long lasting power, quick charging.
The tensioner quit working after a few months.
Long warranty odyssey resulted in a replacement after 6 months.
Tensioner in the replacement failed after a few hours use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wassapointed 2nd time out. Just used this morninng for third attempt. 3 cuts. 1 16" and 2 8" cuts. And its dead on fesh charge. Tool falls out of slot in handle. Box had no packaging in it? Manual was stuck to packaging tape. Was this a return? Just charged again and got less cuts then my last with smaller part of tree. Nedd to see about reeturn i guess.

Very Impressed!

Bought this two years ago (Dec 2017). Have used it to cut down and buck a dead 10" dia. Poplar tree, trim some large overhanging Eucalyptus branches and various kinds of large brush and small tree debris. The saw is easy to handle, cuts quickly, seems to stay sharp. The battery lasts 40 to 50 minutes and recharges in about 20 minutes. With two batteries I never have to wait for a battery to recharge. And its much easier to use than a gas saw.

Great Chainsaw

My husband has used the chainsaw. He really likes it. It is very quiet compared to a gas powered chainsaw. It cuts through logs easily and by the time the battery runs down, he is ready to take a break also.

It is a better saw than I thought it would be. I like that I don't have to pull a starter cord till my arm falls off to get it running.

Disappointing after 10 Minutes

I bought this today and was excited by the easy to use features. It was light weight, quieter than previous saws I’ve had, and easy to handle. However, on a full charge it was done cutting after only 10 minutes and I only cut small bushes about 4” max. I let the battery charge and same thing again. I would have thought the battery would have lasted much longer than this for how much we paid for it. I will be returning this for a longer lasting saw.

Hello Jackson78

Sorry to hear of the challenge you are experiencing. The cordless brushless chainsaw, GCS80421 provide up to 150 cuts with fully charged 2Ah battery.

I would like to go over the charging procedure with you to see if you may find it helpful.

1. To charge the battery align the guide rails on the battery pack with the corresponding slots found on the charger. Slide the battery all the way down into the charger until you hear it click into the charger. If no click is heard, the battery has not been fully secured into the charger.
2. The battery should not be able to slide out of the charger without holding down on the battery latch. If the battery can be easily slid out of the charger, the battery and charger are not fully connected.

When the charger is plugged into the outlet, there should be a power light that appears indicating the charger is receiving power. When the battery is fully inserted into the charger a secondary light will appear indicating the battery is being charged. There are also LED lights located on the battery that indicate the amount of charge the battery has left. To activate this feature, push the button also called the BCI switch on the front of the battery. These LED lights will now illuminate. For example, if all four lights illuminate, this shows the battery is fully charged.

If the issues persist, please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) we would be happy to troubleshoot the issue further. If necessary, we can also discuss the warranty process and what your next step would be.

I already have a 40 volt max Greenworks saw, but I'm in the process of cutting down many mostly hackberry and mulberry trees to clear an area for our proposed log cabin. Since that is the case, I decided I should get the 80 volt, 18 inch model. I'm very glad I did as it works wonderfuly for what I'm asking it to do. I would give this bit of advice to others in similar situations: Although it is very expensive, buy the optional 4Ah battery. You will be glad you did, once you see how long it can work on one charge.

Excellent tool

I bought this in summer to fell some medium-sized trees in my yard. I never had experience using a chainsaw and cutting trees. I watched some youtube video and got the job done easily. The chainsaw is powerful and easy to use. I am glad to have bought the 16 inch as it gives ample leeway working with medium sized trees while not feeling too big and heavy. Easy and quick battery charge is another plus. Oil tends to drip a bit after a long run, but I suppose this is normal to protect the chain.
