Works Great!

I bought my 19” mower several months ago and have been very pleased with its performance. It is a lot quieter and less maintenance compared to a gasoline mower. The 2 batteries it came with can be charged fairly quick and my yard is small which I can cut with the 2.0 battery. With the 4.0 battery I can cut 2 small yards at least.
I would recommend this to a friend!

absolute worst lawnmower ever

do NOT buy this piece of junk. it works for 3 months, after which you run into every problem possible. the batteries don’t charge if they’re remotely warm, since the charger shows a green dot (indicating that it’s full) despite being empty. when actually cutting grass, it can’t cut it and turns off too often. the grass is barely long, 5 inches down to a 3 on the machine. the mower just... stops. it’s been 2 hours of pushing the mower, having it stop after maybe 4 feet of cutting, and restarting it and i’m not even done with the front of my lawn. terrible lawnmower, save your money.

Hello ysf18,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with your lawnmower! This is unfortunate to hear. Please know that we truly strive to provide a quality product and a great customer service experience. If the grass is very thick or long, you may have to reduce your walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and proper discharge of the clippings. We also recommend mowing when the grass is dry, its often best to wait until the morning dew has subsided. This will help the run time of the battery as well as ensure that the grass is light enough for proper grass clipping discharge into the bag and avoid clogging. Here are a few other tips to help get the most out of the battery run time and achieve a cleaner cut: 1) Set the mower to the highest cutting height (or 1/3 of the length of grass), mow no more than 1/3 of the total length at a time. 2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on newly cut grass. 3) Alternate mowing patterns each time you mow. As grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction it will lean towards the direction of your mowing path. Changing the pattern allows better vertical growth and helps to keep the cut neater. For best results keep the grass under 4" in length and walk at a slow but steady pace to allow the blades to cut efficiently. Regarding the concern you have had with your charger, please keep in mind that if the battery was just in use it is important to let the battery cool down before putting it on the charger. Putting a battery that was just in use onto the charger often results in a false full charge signal. Remove the battery from the charger and allow it to rest in a room temperature area for ~10-15 minutes before charging. If you find that you are still experiencing this issue after the battery has had plenty of time to rest, please note that batteries do carry a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase and we would be happy to help. We hope these tips will help you with the issues you have encountered, however, if they do not please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or by email on info@greenworkstools.com so that we can assist you.

Poor Performance

My Mother in Law purchased one of these for her duplex. She lives on one side and rents the other. We are not able to mow both front yards on a single charge. The 2 front yards are very small 20x20 square feet each. This has been the case since mower being purchased new. I thought I would give it a try again tonight but the charge only lasted 15 minutes. The grass has just started growing and is not thick or tall yet. I would not recommend this style of mower.

Hello Extraordinary Gentleman,
We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower. It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life, here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time. 1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings. 2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months. 3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily. 4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. 5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please submit an email using the customer contact page on our website or give us a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

Mower starts easily, runs for thirty seconds and shuts off. Happens whether on grass or on pavement. Battery is fully charged, blade moves easily, nothing is stuck in blades/under deck.

Hello Unsatisfied User,
Thank you for your review. Sorry to hear of the experience you have had! If the mower stops during use, check to see if the unit or battery is too warm. If either is warm the unit may shut off. There is an internal circuit breaker in our batteries. Take the battery indoors and allow it to cool for about 30 minutes and try again. Please make sure to start the unit correctly. Always, push and hold the safety button first, as the safety button is being held down use your other hand to lift the bale handle. Once the unit starts release the safety switch and continue to hold onto the bale handle. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact us at 1-888-909-6757. We are happy to help.

Pleased with the purchase. Smallish to average size suburban lawn I can get done with just the 4ah battery most of the time. Light, no assembly required.

I've had it for a little over a year. No complaints other than that they released a newer one (21 inch with folding storage) that I wish I could exchange for! This was the only brushless model when I purchased. So I recommend it, but only if you can't afford the newer model.
