Well made conventional drive with Mac Studio

The slowest startup of any drive

If this drive goes idle for any time at all it takes forever for it to spin back up when your computer tries to access it. A time waster for sure!

Good drive, but I would not recommend for Windows

Unfortunately WD Acronis backup software does not support this drive. It supports the older, slower drives only.
So, for windows you have to reformat, and either only use file history, purchase backup software, or use some sort of open source backup software.
WD: Please add support for this drive in the excellent WD Acronis Backup software!

No Problems Ever

These drives have never failed me. The company's ongoing work to put out new drives of greater space on a regular basis keeps me coming back. They easily handle the large video and photo files I use, and the sophisticated applications I need. Some reviewers complain that these are noisy drives. I hardly notice and it rarely bothers me even slightly, but I can understand why others disagree. If G-Drives were quieter, and a little more affordable, I'd be giving them 5+ stars instead of 4.
