Don't believe TV commercial about this seed!

from Rocky Hill, CT
Purchased this grass seed 15 days ago, applied more than specified.
Watered twice a day. Had several warm days and just a few days ago had 2.5 inches of rain.
Not a single blade of new grass is showing!

Bob, we're sorry to hear Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass didn't germinate for you. For best results, day and nighttime temperatures should be consistently between 60-80 degrees. Cooler temperatures will delay seed germination. Reach out to us here for assistance with our product guarantee: https://tinyurl.com/y8nvfsca

Bad bag?

Is it possible I got a bad bag of seed? I’ve used Scott’s seeds a dozen time with great results. This last bag though, I couldn’t get a single seed to sprout.

I didn’t realize there could be such a difference in grass seed! Will only purchase this from now on. I was shocked how quickly the seed germinated!

Great Green Grass

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Rapid Grass works as titled. I purchased because my grass seemed a bit lifeless and unhealthy. Application was quick and easy with my rotary spreader. After application my grass perked up quickly and remains green and healthy looking. Very happy with the final outcome.

So far so good I think.

So far so good. Its been 2 weeks. Raked the soil , tossed down the seed, covered it with a thin layer of peat moss and water 2x daily for 25 min each time. Plenty of seed not germinated yet but since I over seeded and used it for bare spots, I put down more seed than was needed. A little disappointed its not faster, but does seem to be coming up and filling in so far.

Fantastic. Way beyond my expectations

My lawn was brown and spotted with bare spots. Three weeks later and it is vibrant green, thick and most bare spots filled in. I examined where it hadn’t grown well and realized my raking had not been enough to remove residual leaf mulch. It seems like good raking is critical. Also I chose to plant just before an extended period of rain and in the few days it didn’t rain twice I also watered. So good raking and lots of water with not much sun in the first week. Worked great. I’m usually pretty good at killing plants so this is a notable exception

NO JOKE!

bought 25 lb bag of your "ez seed grows anywhere" What the bag implied was that it grows grass. I'm 87 years old--planted 3/4 of the bag on composted soil about 3ft by 3.5 feet--used lots of the product--NOT ONE BLADE OF GRASS--PLENTY OF GROUND IVY THOUGH. Now this little part of our lawn I took such good care of has caused much anger as I fear the ground ivy will infect the rest of the lawn. I dug it all up just now. will never buy scotts again. If this is a joke, this 87 year old woman is NOT AMUSED!!!It's crap!. Pennington's from now on. SHAME ON YOU--NOT FUNNY! It's all in a leaf bag going to the dump-where it belongs

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass Sun & Shade and appreciate your feedback.
It is normal to have some weeds germinate when seeding. There are approximately 10,000 weed seeds per 1 cubic foot of native soil. Soil preparation brings weed seeds to the surface. All Scotts seed is thoroughly cleaned and is 99.9% weed seed free, in fact The Scotts Advantage states weeds are removed from our crops by filtering Scotts seed 3 times. Our grass seed is harvested in June/July, well before the time of crabgrass maturity which occurs during late summer when it sets seed. Therefore it's not possible our crop can be contaminated with crabgrass seeds. Soil amendments such as manure and straw often contain weed seeds. Weed seeds can be blown or carried into area prior to grass seed becoming established.
