Great for my Shade

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In the past I have tried to grow grass on the side of the house, but the shade must be too deep. This grass seed grew in after a little more than a week! Very impressive so far! I plan to use this seed to fill in areas as they pop up in deep shady areas

Horrible Product
on May 30, 2023

I purchased Scotts Turf builder and it burned and killed my grass, so i purchased Scotts Rapid Grass Sun and Shade, and i have been watering my grass every night for two weeks, and no grass at all. This was a waste of my money. If i could give this zero stars i would, such a horrible product, stop selling this knowing it doesn't work.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass and appreciate your feedback.

You should start seeing germination in 6-14 days under ideal growing conditions. For Cool Season grasses (Bluegrass/Rye/Fescue), soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees for grass seed to germinate. Daytime temperatures should consistently be 65+ degrees. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. If temperatures have been lower than necessary for seed germination, the seed is still good and will most likely germinate once temperatures warm up.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

I put down seed in the winter after doing no prep. The dogs pushed it in as they walked around. I figure grass seed will sprout when it wants. It did !! I went from bare ground to lushish lawn. I did set the sprinklers to water two minutes every daylight hour once the temperature hit 55 degrees. I did put down double the recommended amount.

Careful on reviews

Take a look at some of the reviews dates. How is someone writing a review in the month of March? Perfect English grammar? Come on now. Some of these reviews are bogus. Scotts and Pennington are like Ford and Chevy. If one doesn't work go and get the other kind. Scotts did not work on my semi-sandy soil last year and I live on the coast of Maine. Pennington did and so with that...no more Scotts.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The seed was planted along the side of a driveway which was bare dirt for two years. After planting the grass I was amassed at how rapidly it germinated and
grew. Part of the driveway is in the shade while the rest receives full sun all the time. A difficult situation for most grass but my problem is now solved.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought to fill in patches after winter, prepared the spots as directed, put down the seed and kept watered. About 2-3 weeks later, bare spots all gone and lush green lawn that looks great, can’t not even tell the spots where there! Great product!!

Great for the summer lawn

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This stuff works really good in the summer to help rebuild the grass. I have patches that need more grass and it works. Follow the directions carefully and this stuff does work in the yard. It helps with the areas that does not get as much sun as it needs.
