Bad bag?

I bought a bag 1 month ago. I have used Scott’s for 20 years with great success. I followed the proper step and watered daily. Not a single sprout.

Bought a bag of this over a month ago. Watered it every day. I can probably count the number of grass blades it produced.

This product did not work at all.

I live in Florida and I bought this product a month ago, set my sprinklers to water twice a day but the seeds will not germinate. I dethatched, sacrificed, and raked everything up to ensure I have seed to soil and contact and fertilized with Scott’s 3 in 1 but still nothing. Prior to this, I bought the thick r lawn for the front yard and it did not germinate either so I tried this for the back yard to see if it would be better but of course, it did not. I'm very disappointed with Scott’s product this far.

Temperature plays a critical role in seed germination. Southern seed types (bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, bahiagrass, etc.) need soil temperatures of at least 70°F (21°C), with air temperatures in the 80's or higher (21°C or above). Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low nighttime temperatures. Very hot weather will also inhibit seed germination.

Rapid Weeds

I bought this product for our family grave plots. The product did grow a little quicker than the regular grass seed did, but it was also 40% weeds coming up. Planted plots with brand new soil, Scott's garden soil. None of the plots nearby have these weeds. Can only conclude the rapid grass product was substandard. All I do is weed crabgrass, and the grass that did grow tends to dry out, with sufficient watering. Being over 70 years old with degenerated lumbar discs and bad hips, the humor of this situation has not been appreciated. And to think you charge double for this product than for the regular seeds. Extremely disappointed!!

Thank you for your feedback. Several things can impact the growth when using Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass Sun & Shade such as temperatures, soil temperatures, too much or not enough water. It is normal to have some weeds germinate when seeding. There are approximately 10,000 weed seeds per 1 cubic foot of native soil. Soil preparation brings weed seeds to the surface. All Scotts seed is thoroughly cleaned and is 99.9% weed seed free, in fact The Scotts Advantage states weeds are removed from our crops by filtering Scotts seed 3 times. Before and After (2 years of Scott's)

When I started using Scott's Rapid grass, the green parts of the yard were the weeds. It's now the second fall since I started using Scott's products. The only reason I'm reviewing my experience is because of the crazy one star reviews. My thoughts on some of the comments: 1. Grass seed needs water and dirt cover. A few loose 2x seeds grew roots on my walkway when I was watering it 3x a day. 2. Crab grass preventer doesn't add crab grass, you have to time it right or the crab-grass-seeds from last season's crab grass will explode into more crab grass. 3. Water, water, water. 4. Be very careful with the weed and feed. Especially if you have a thick lawn. Don't over-do it. Don't apply in warm weather. Reseed any casualties. 5. Be sure to check for grubs and treat them. (Do birds love your lawn? You may have grubs.) 6. Lastly, enjoy the before and after.

Amazing product!

After I was left with a mess of a back yard after having a platform deck built, and only a month to get grass grown in for an event I'm having at my house ,=I bought this seed. What a great product! The before and after are 26 days apart. Watered every day several times and thrilled with the results.
