Worth the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have found over the years that products for your lawn are quite varied. I've tried all the big box stores brands of seed, fertilizers and other products and rarely if at all get good results. Name brand products like Scotts have always produced well in my yard. I used this product to overseed some patchy areas in my yard with excellent results. We'll see how it winters. To me it's worth the price.

It grows!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used this seed in some areas that had died out this summer. We now have baby grass growing. We also used it to over-seed other areas and have noticed young grass growing there too. I believe as with any seed, some seed will not take (or birds will eat it first?), but all in all we are happy with this product.

I am in Sunny Southern California. One of the easiest location for growing grass. Mild spring, some Rain, sunny days with temperatures around 65 to 75.
Purchased two 7lb bags from low's and spent many hours preparing the soil as instructed for reseeding. Made sure the ground stay moist, and everything else. However, It has been more than a month and not a single seed germinated.
After a month, the top spread is gone, and I am looking at a bunch of blue little dead seeds everywhere. It was a waste of time and money. Never again would purchasing any of the Scott’s Crab.

I apologize that you have experienced problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix. It is certainly frustrating to go through all the work of reseeding an area, only to have the results less than satisfactory.
Undoubtedly you will be doing reseeding projects in the future, and I just want to give you a few tips that have been helpful to some of our consumers.The newly seeded areas must be kept constantly moist for weeks on end. Allowing the soil to dry out even for an hour during the critical germination phase can result in seedling death. This may require that you give the seeded areas a light watering two to three times a day for the first few weeks. After that, you will still need to keep the seedlings watered on a regular basis. Two "enemies" of newly seeded lawns are herbicides and lawn diseases. While you have very little control over the outbreak of a lawn disease, do make sure that no weed control or weed prevention chemical has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass.

Fall Seeding

Makes lawn care simple..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a small yard and try to keep it as neat as possible. I over seed to try and keep out weeds, instead of using harsh chemicals to kill already emerging weeds. Or lesser the practice anyway. The grass comes up looking beautiful yr after yr. With very little maintenance. The water smart coating keeps the seeds moisture intact for easier growing and less watering. Good product.

Seeds are quite large

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The seeds are covered with something blue in color and are probably 10 to 20 times the size of an uncoated grass seed. I did not feel like this seed germinated any easier than regular seed. Because the seed is so much larger there is obviously fewer seeds in the same size bag as regular grass seed. If you are covering small areas or using it for spot repair it is fine but if you have a large area or are overseeding I would stick with regular grass seed.
