[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very poor germination despite costly watering and time spent. I ended up using a cheap generic seed and had better germination. How could this happen?
Cons: Didn't work as expected

This product didn't work as expected

I was tired of using other grass seed and decided to go with what I thought was a high quality seed, so I bought the Scotts products. 9 bags of seed and starter fertilizer for a very large lawn. Most of the product didn't germinate, although many broadleaf weeds did. Yard preparation was in accordance with the Scotts website. After 30 days of very little activity, I went back to the store where I purchased the product to find out that the product had expired 6 months before it was purchased. I was told to write Scotts. I believe that the product will work if not expired, I think I got a bad deal. A product rep should be checking the product for expiration.
Pros: Good Directions
Cons: Didn't work as expected

We're sorry for the disappointment you have experienced with the results of your recent seeding effort. Here are few tips that may be helpful to you in future seeding endeavors. As with any seed product, Scotts PatchMaster Tall Fescue Mix requires both continuous moisture and warm soil temperatures. When one of these conditions is missing, poor germination is the result. If PatchMaster Tall Fescue Mix is applied when temperatures and moisture are inconsistent, seed development will be sparse. Our seeds are guaranteed to be 99.9% weed free. Please keep in mind that weed seeds are exposed when the soil is turned and will germinate right along with the new seed. Weed seeds may also be introduced to the area through the addition of topsoil or straw.
It is our priority to assure that you remain satisfied in us. For this reason we offer our No-Quibble Guarantee® . Please feel free to reach out to us to see what we can do for you. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had some very unusual weather here in Michigan this summer and fall. The small sample in one area of seeding shows a very small blade of grass The heavy rain which we have had lately has hurt the seed from taking hold. I intend to reseed this coming week. Please resend in about two weeks.
