[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a huge fan of fescue grass. its tuff uses very little water when its 90 degrees or higher in the summer, the kids love the feel on their feet. My biggest reason is its tuff for dog urine to kill and for me that's huge since I have a 200 lb. Great Dane who's bladder is like a fire hydrant. I will be buying more of this product for bare spots in my yard.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality, Value

5% Germination after 14 Days
on April 6, 2014
Posted by: Medmo
I watered this product very diligently and still only saw about 5% sprout after Day 14. We also received good rain and one snow during those two weeks, so the seeds were adequately moist. I do have a sun and shade mix where I planted, but even in sunny areas I did not have good results.
Pros: Good Directions
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your results. Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius) for northern type turf grass seed to germinate Bluegrass, ryegrass, fescue). Air temperature must typically be between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit (15-26 degrees Celsius). Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night, or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low nighttime temperatures. Continue to keep the area moist and as temperatures become more consistently warm, the grass will have a better chance of germinating.

Grass Seed that struggles to grow
on January 25, 2016
Posted by: NateDogg123
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, the grass seed was poor. I prepped the soil, planted and watered according to the instructions. The seed really struggled to grow. Only a small portion sprouted and most did not make it long-term.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

first of all they're not Tall Fescue they're fine fesuce but i don't know which fine fescue they're, the blade is very fine.. to avoid confusion scotts should label "grass seed mix" FOR Tall fescue lawn. this bag of seeds are super fast germinate.. they take only 3 days to germinate (not all, i would say 70% of them germinate quicker).. the temp in my area is range 67-85f (August) and i water twice/day. i bought the wrong bag i supposed to buy Sun and Dense Shade but this bag, Full Sun and Partial Shade also works fine but i don't know if they die in the long run.. my grass is about 3 weeks old i hope they don't die on me because of the shade...

Pleasantly surprised!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was actually quite surprised by the growth and durability of this seed mix. It was pretty late in the season to plant when it arrived. I had some patchy areas that needed repair after we had several foster puppies this year really doing a number on my grass. I wanted to see if I could get something growing in that area before it got too cold, so I figured I'd give it a try. I am admittedly not great at prepping or hand holding new grass, so I have failed more than once when trying to get new grass to grow from seed. I cleaned up the old dead grass raked up the dirt a bit to loosen the soil sprinkled a good amount of seed down and then raked it around to try to cover the seed up some. The weather was pretty cool & rainy for the next week, so to I really didn't tend to it at all other than trying not to walk on it. Then. out of no where we had a HUGE rainstorm that I was sure had washed my new seed completely away. Oh well, try again in the spring I thought... Then I noticed it growing! Not just growing, but really taking off. It wasn't all exactly where I had put it, so I still have a bit of work to do in the spring, but it's MUCH better than before. The new grass is thick & healthy & is holding up really well to foot traffic and our dogs running over it. I will definitely be picking up some more of this seed mix in the spring to replant a larger area of the yard. The area I re-seeded looks so much better than the old lawn I had.!

Grass can grow in shade

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have many trees on the property. They create quite a bit of shade which makes growing grass difficult to impossible. I was ready to give up when I saw this grass seed for shade, so I gave it one last try. It seems to be doing pretty well for a start; I'm hoping it will improve over time.
