[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great seed product that works. Dense shade mix works on full sun and densw shade with a medium grass blade. It is also medium to high drought resistant. It will grow with as little as 3 hours of sunlight.

Buyer Beware
on November 10, 2021

After aerating my yard, I re-seeded my yard with Scott's Turf Builder Tall Fescue grass seed. I purchased a 20lb bag which was more than enough to take care of my front and backyard. I followed the directions carefully according to the package and after two weeks I started seeing the new grass coming up. But things that I didn't want started growing. I had dandelions popping up everywhere. In fact I sprayed Roundup on 30 dandelion plants in the front yard alone. I also have two or three nice patches of clover. Dandelions and clover I didn't have before, I treat my yard with proper fertilizers. so apparently there's more than just grass seed in the bag. The grass seed came up in several areas in the yard but it could have been a lot better. I do not recommend this product!

Big Jon, we're sorry to hear you didn't get the results you expected after using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix. Our grass seeds are guaranteed to be 99.9% weed seed free. There are an average of 10,000 weed seeds per cubic foot of soil, and prepping the soil for seeding can bring them to the surface where they will germinate. Scotts products continue to work well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in Wisconsin so I was a bit concerned about the lateness of season to be doing a grass seed application, however, all turned out well.
I started spreading the seed on 9-26-21 to five areas of my back yard. This area was seeing about 7 hours of sun a day and the temperature was between 71- 79. I also added straw to the areas to avert the seed from drying out. I watered between 3 and 4 times a day.
On 10-1-21 no growth was seen yet. Finally on 10-4-21 I saw uniform growth. I continued to care for the seed and we were blessed with warm temps throughout the time span. I also treated my front lawn about 2 weeks in with similar results. The product worked well while following bad directions.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quick (2 weeks) growth, and full green by week 3...Yard is 70% shade and seems to be standing up...Will tell more if it holds up to summer heat stress, but in fall looks good...Central Ohio planted in Fall

Perfectly good grass seed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All around pretty ordinary grass mix, no real issues, but nothing world-breaking. We put some down in some spots right against the house that gets a lot of shade most of the day. It was your typical result, most spots filled in after a couple weeks, but I wouldn't say it's anything special

Finally Grass In Our Shadey Area
on November 11, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have a rather wide area between our house and our neighbors which receives very little sun. We were delighted to finally have grass growing in that space after using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Dense Shade Mix. We had given up on growing any grass there. It looks so great now!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product worked as it was advertised . I have never in the past been able to grow grass in this shaded area. I followed the easy instructions and the seed began growing. Unfortunately I received it too late in the growing season so I will fill in some areas in the spring.

Deep woods grass possible?
on November 12, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well I have this section of lawn or rather dirt that borders the neighbors woods that is always bare of living things. The trees are fairly dense in their forest and thus shade the area most of the day. Trying out Scott’s dense shade mix grass seed to see if this can survive. It only requires 3 hours of sunlight which I think I have, we'll see. I ruffed up the soil and spread the seed using a Scott’s hand held spreader, then put down some Scott’s starter fertilizer. It took while for the sprouts to appear ~ 2/3 weeks and it’s a bit spotty, I’ll put some more down in the spring. So right now it’s a wait and see how it does in the spring as I have plenty of sun now that the leaves are down. I’ll update accordingly.
