The Watersmart Coating is Great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product for patching problem areas. I work full time so watering 2-3 times a day is a problem. the coating eliminates that worry. I have also found that the coating fools the Birds and my seed isn't eaten up by our feathered friends. The turquoise colored coating also helps me to see just how much seed I have spread and fill in if there are areas I didn't do an even job of spreading.
I tell all my friends and family about my good results.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality, easy to see how thick seed is spread., keeps loss to birds down
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i use Scotts water smart in an area where it was really shaded and bald
Because of a Japanese Maple that's there. I used scots water smart in spring and fall
And our yard has filled in beautifully. You would have never known there was nothing but dirt in that area. The grass is a lush green and looks healthy and full.
I would seed whe I knew we would have a heavy rain or a few days of rain and it worked really good.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I planted this Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix around a retaining wall that I had to repair. The germination time was very quick, 5 days, and you could see the growth. Minimum amount of watering too. Excellent product I will buy again , thanks Scotts.

My grass looks great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Scotts tall fescue grass seed in the Fall of 2015 on a section of my front lawn. I had some monster grass growing (not sure where it came from) and spreading at a rapid rate. I let it go a little too long. I then realized I had to kill it and pull it all up by its roots. It was hard work. But I then planted Scotts Tall Fescue seed and watered it according to the instructions. It took a little while but I then had some gorgeous green grass growing. I protected that section of my front lawn from pedestrians and kids as best I could. All of my efforts worth it. But Scotts tall fescue did the rest. Now in Maryland in January 2016, it is still looking good. I'm so glad I went through the trouble of completely clearing out the awful grass that was spreading. I'll now feel much better about my lawn in the Spring.

Tall fescue mix did not germinate
on December 11, 2015

I followed the exact recommendations, I put the Scott's soil down, watered, starter fertilizer and very little of it germinated. It was ideal conditions in the fall with temps in range and not hot. Better off buying grass seed in bulk, about the same price. This seed is expensive for not producing the results you would expect from Scott's.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
Response from ScottsBy Consumer ServicesDecember 14, 2015
We are sorry that you had disappointing results with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Tall Fescue Mix. Water is an important factor in successful seeding. The newly seeded areas must be kept constantly moist for weeks on end. Allowing the soil to dry out even for an hour during the critical germination phase can result in seedling death. Seeds must come into direct contact with the soil in order to germinate. Finally, temperature plays a critical role in seed germination. Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees and air temperature must typically be between 60 and 80 degrees. Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night, or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low night time temperatures.
