Kicked 2 outside dogs out of a fenced side yard into our fenced bigger back yard after they destroyed our side yard by digging holes everywhere & killing what grass was there. 800# later of fill dirt & Scotts Top Soil & not even a full week we saw GREAT results! Living in in Houston I was VERY worried about choosing the Fescue Mix but I wanted SOFT grass like I had growing up in the Chicago 'Burbs. 2 weeks later i am AMAZED at the beauty of it & how quickly it is filling in! I bought a timer to water it all, every 6 hours for 7 minutes. The yard & grass seem to be doing GREAT! Thanks Scotts for a wonderful product. I cannot wait to mow it & fertilize it as time goes on!

Great for under trees and by garage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great seed. I placed the seed under a tree in the back yard and also along the garage that gets minimal sunlight but does get abundant indirect light. The seed came up quickly and stayed green until the winter.

GREAT FOR MY PURPOSE

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product was perfect for over seeding areas of concern. My yard is normally lush and green. This seed only added to and blended right in with my already nice lawn. I was not sure if this seed would satisfy my needs but it absolutely did.

DIED AFTER SPROUTING ?

NE Texas, brought in fresh topsoil. Applied around shop building shaded by trees. About 75% came up green and seemed fine for about a month. Just about time to mow, it started dying out. Happened in another area not around a building. Watered according to instructions.

Why the seed treatment?

I bought this seed this week and was disappointed to find it treated with mefenoxam for fungicide. First, the bag says nothing about either the treatment or the effect. I assume I paid extra for the treatment which I don't care about. Also, blue seed (treatment). Great. So when it doesn't germinate I'm gonna have blue seed leftover next spring? I know they have to color the treatments for clarity, but again, I didn't want treated seed.

Coating?

This grass seed has been planted for a week and is not germinating. Watered every day. That coating seems to prevent the water from activating. I have to plant this in October here in Memphis and need to blow my leaves off about once a week for it to get any sun. I used this seed about 5 years ago and had to replant with non coated seed which germinates in about 3-4 days. I guess I forgot about that incident and wasted another 150 dollars on seed.

Germination times on label are based upon the grass type in the bag that will germinate the quickest. Cool night time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can also inhibit seed germination. WaterSmart PLUS Grass Seed may remain dormant and germinate in the spring.
