Growing well
on May 4, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grass seed has worked really well in my yard. I put this down in the spring time hoping that the cooler temps and hydration of the season would help it grow. It has done really well so far. I think it will easily cover all of the bare spots in my yard.

Don't reseed before a storm..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not much to comment on here as I reseeded a day before an unexpected, I'm talking torrential downpour for hours, rain. I waited a couple of weeks and noticed a small amount of new grass sprouting. The moral is, don't expect to grow grass when the majority of seed gets washed away.
One thing of note: The directions called for setting my drop spreader to about 19. This is almost wide open. I ran out of seed before 1000 square feet.

Followed all instructions, did not produce any grass. Disappointed in the time, effort and money spent.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Turf Builder Grass Seed Dense Shade Mix and appreciate your feedback.
For cool season grasses (Bluegrass/Rye/Fescues) soil temperatures must be at least 55℉ for grass seed to germinate. This means that the daytime temperatures must consistently be above 65℉. For warm season grasses (Bermudagrass/Centipede/Zoysia/Bahia) soil temperatures must be between 75℉ and 90℉. Cool or fluctuating nighttime temperatures will slow germination. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit germination. Germination times vary by seed type.

Did not grow well for us.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We installed a new hot tub and decided to use this around the hot tub to regrow all the grass that we lost when it was installed. We used as directed and made sure to water but we got very little growth in that area.

Works great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shade mix grass seed is great. It is so hard to get grass to grow under the trees in my yard because it never gets any sun. This grass seed mix worked wonders for covering the bare patches there. I would definitely recommend this product

It's working!!
on July 9, 2019

We had a very patchy and unhealthy lawn filled with dandelions, moss and thatch. We spent about a month killing weeds and moss, de-thatching and aerating. 10 days ago, we spread the seed as directed for overseeding, topped with a 1/4" layer of lawn soil and watered as needed to keep the top layer of soil moist (quite a few
waterings, since it is July and we have had very little to no rain and warm temps). Lo and behold, after 6 days tiny blades started poking through and at 10 days we have new baby grass sprouts all over!!! It is filling in very nicely and is starting to look like the lawn I always dreamed of!

Perfect! Germination in 5 days

Seeded in shady areas about a week ago, used the left over potting soil and sprinkled over the seeded area. 5 days later Voila! I was surprised that in less than a week the grass is out in July.
