I bought this spreader in the spring. A few days after spreading fertilizer I had beautiful deep green stripes in my lawn. Recently I spread fertilizer again, and had the same result, even after moving my passes closer to together. I do not recommend this spreader.

We apologize for the issues you have encountered with Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader. We recommend leaving 5 feet in between each pass, as the spreader will fling the product out 2.5 feet on each side. We value your feedback and would like to know what we can do better. Our products carry a satisfaction guarantee, at your convenience, please contact us to see what we can do to help. We can be reached at http://tinyurl.com/mds8zo5

Replacement didn't last as long as the first one

So I had one of these for over 12 years before it finally kicked the bucket. Loved it and it was great. So I bought a replacement, the same exact kind. Used it once this year and just as I was about to use it for the fall, noticed that the agitator would not spin, the spreader would below the hopper but not that part in the bottom of the hopper. So if there was a glob of fertilizer it would block the shoot. It was kind of frustrating.

Makes a terrible noise!

This makes a terrible clicking noise when using. The broadcast wheel rubs against the edge guard and makes a terrible sound. It doesn’t matter if the edge guard is on or off the sound is terrible. Stay away from this model!

Cheap plastic construction

This inexpensive broadcast spreader lasted 3 years. Plastic spreader parts have broken rendering the unit useless. Got what I paid for.

Sorry I bought this

Ditto to RonM's review. Used it two years with no problem, the next year I noted weird pattern in grass. Like one side seeded other side not. The edgeguard although indicated cut off it did NOT cut off so I threw in one direction but thought I was throwing both ways. Hard to tell even watching it in the grass. Tried to tape it open, didn't work. Thought I had it figured out it did the same thing last Fall with seed and fertilizer. Yard looks like a mess with lines of dark green. Purchased a new different brand today. This reminds me of a company trying to fix something that wasn't broken. Easy enough to distance yourself from concrete, then get your blower out to get rid of product that you accidentally got on the concrete. A lot less hassle than dealing with this thing.

Second time using the Scott's Fertilizer DLX Edgeguard. The plastic mechanism that goes from the tub broke. Can't order parts for it. So the spreader is useless now.

Clogged Gears

I bought this spreader about 1 year ago to replace my old Scotts broadcast spreader that I had for years. I was not able to do much to my lawn last year due to Covid-19 but this spring I broke out the spreader to do early spring fertilizer and the fertilizer clogged the wheel gear which spins the spreading disk. The gears got all gunked up and made it hard to push the spreader. Seems to be a flaw in the design (plastic gears and gear cover) - never had this issue with old scotts spreader

Bought one last year broke the second time I used it. The gear housing in the middle comes loose and just rotates with the wheels. I do not even thing anything is actually broke I just don’t think it was designed well.
