Need a new wheel design
on July 30, 2020

I have been using spreader for a year and generally very satisfied. However wheels need to be redesigned especially internal side that catches the weed and feed product which needs to be applied on a dew or wet lawn. Product accumulated mostly on internal hollow wheel and leaves uneven pattern and clumps.

Bad calibration
on August 3, 2020

I bought this spreader a couple months ago. Noticed that when set according to the instructions on the product being applied that I was only using about 50% of what I should have for my yard size. I did a calibration check applying product on a 1000 sqft area and it only spread 46% of the weight it should have. Can’t find any product info on how to adjust the calibration for this spreader. Disappointed Scott’s markets this as a pre-calibrated unit and it is so far off.

Failure after failure after failure

I don't know why I keep buying these things (three). I keep them clean and maintained. Agitators always loosen and spin off. I replace two/year, I only use it 4x a year. All I'm using is granulated fertilizer or seed. I fill no more than a third of the bin. One has failed because the frame buckled. On 1/3 bins and dry fert/seed. Just finished applying fall fert. Took 3x longer than it should, stopping to fix agitator. I swear never again, but there's limited competition, so I guess Scoots doesn't need to bother improving design.

The agitator broke the 3rd time I used the spreader after purchasing this spring. Disappointing that this very pricey product is of such poor quality.

Cheap Quality

I bought this spreader to replace my old Scotts spreader, what a disappointment. This spreader has very poor quality. When you release the handle to close the hopper door, it does not close. I had to manually close it. I noticed couple of weeks after putting down my fertilizer that I had strips. Scotts claims it has a 5' broadcast, it does not. I would not recommend this product.

One flaw

I like the machine. But! The cable broke on the Edgeguard and left the door open. I walked the whole yard not knowing I was spreading a large stream of fertilizer an inch wide. A week later I knew all too well.

Does not like damp Triple 13. Would not broadcast it at all. Fertilizer was new in plastic bag.

Streaks my yard
on April 17, 2021
Posted by: Budd
from Albany GA
I bought this spreader specifically for the Edgeguard feature. That part works great. But when I turned off the edgeguard doing the rest of the yard, it has streaks. It appears that more fertilizer comes out the left side and a lot less on the right. Now I have dark and light streaks in my yard. The only areas that are consistent is the edges around the yard and on the edges of the driveway.
I have an old (at least 18 years old) Scotts Broadcast spreader that works great and I've never had a streaking problem. I think I made a mistake buying this new (improved??) spreader.
