Failure prone

I have had three of these, and all have broken in the same spot. The spinning agitator shears the shaft off the gearbox. I buy these spreaders so I can match the settings found on the Scotts fertilize bags. I will not buy another.

Needed modification to work

Bought this last year to spread fertilizer and Grubex to control moles. Operated fine until I filled it with Grubex and tried to spread, the wheels were not getting sufficfient traction to spin the unit and dispense seed. I mounted a 5lb weight on the front of the hopper and they it dispensed product fine. Took it out today to do the Grubex thing and got about 5 feet and the impeller/mixer shaft broke off and now it is useless. I will begin the quest for parts, this is not acceptable.

Poor Product Design

I bought this new DLX spreader to replace the old spreader that I had used for years, thinking new product development would offer improved performance. I'm sorry to say that it offers nothing of the sort. The recommended setting does not deliver anywhere close to what is intended and the spread is so poor that I now have stripes in my lawn. So far, I have only applied Step 1 and I am unwilling to use it further. If you are looking for a broadcast spreader, this is not the one you want.

Uneven spreading

You get brilliant green strips of over fertilized grass, adjacent to under fertilized strips of grass. Piece of junk.

I bought this at the beginning of the season. Does a poor job of broadcasting. Leaves stripes. Any recommendations for how to correct?

Burnt Stripes in Yard
on July 7, 2020

I recently purchased a Scotts spreader for the first time. Unfortunately, it has left 5" stripes in my yard both times that I have used it. I previously spread the same fertilizer with an Earthway Spreader for 15 years and never had a single problem.

Terrific for lawn striping!
on July 8, 2020

My new Scotts Deluxe EdgeGuard Push Spreader does an excellent job of leaving dark green stripes in the lawn. This appears to be from an uneven fertilizer spread due to granules getting stuck inside the hollow wheels. It's unbelievably noticeable when looking at the yard and I'm very unhappy with my lawn's appearance. This is a significant design flaw that has obviously been reported by consumers without an obvious improvement in the product's design or operation.

Terrible Design

Bought this spring. The design of this spreader is horrible. The hollow wheels get filled with fertilizer and deposit it in a heavy line. This results in stripping on the lawn. This spreader is a disaster. Do not buy!
