Uneven spread and poor wheel design!

I purchased this spreader for the edge guard feature and capacity. During the first row of the application I noticed that the left side spread more fertilizer than the right. I thought the edge guard was stuck so I looked underneath and saw the design of the mechanism allowed this to happen. This allowed for an uneven application. Then when I put the spreader away when I was done I noticed a lot of fertilizer accumulated inside the wheels. Very disappointed with this design and with Scotts for allowing this to happen.
Cons: Difficult to use, Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works good when new. Not so good after some use.

Since all moving parts are plastic, moving parts are subject to above average wear. After about six years of use, I cannot spread without stopping quite a few times per hopper load to reattach the (not sure what it's called) diffuser? that at the bottom of the hopper that mounts on the shaft of the spreader. The fertilizer wears the plastic thin or completely away. I have kept the spreader in a garage when not in use and always wash it out when finished using. Not only the diffuser is no longer functional but the shaft that come up through the bottom of the hopper is also very worn and wobbles. It appears to me that this products designed to fail, is that another purchase is
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective
Cons: cheap plastic will wear out, designed to fail
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Spreader Works for a while

I love the product. This is the second one that I have bought in the last 5 years. However, I bought this one in January 2018 and now it works well only on settings below 7. It is now start to just dump large quantities of fertilizer as I am walking along, at any setting above 7. It also appears that only one wheel is turning the mechanism that spreads the material These things are pretty pricey and should last longer than 9 or 10 months. Even if I wanted to get it fixed, I have no idea where and really shouldn't have to spend more money on the product.

Lasted 30 minutes. Purchased Scotts Broadcast EdgeGuard DLX Spreader today and the plastic rotary broke completely off at the axle connection after only spreading 40 lbs of product. Very disappointing in the quality.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: plastic rotary part broke at axle
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Leaves fertilizer lines. And does not work as effectively as other products. Previous Scott’s spreaders broadcast more evenly.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, does not spread effectively and leaves lines
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works great, but not for long

This spreader works well. It has issues with larger loads, so limit how much you put in it. The little plastic spinner in the bottom of the bin will strip out if you aren't careful with how much you load in it. I've added a few layers of tape to keep it going. Wish they sold replacement spinners, the rest of the spreader holds up fine.

Uneven speading, leaves clumps and lines of fertilizer

Especially poor with small granule material like Scotts Fall Weed and Feed, the spreader will leave clumps and lines of fertilizer product. For all product, small and larger granule, the spreader consistently throws more to the left than the right.
