I am dumbfounded as to how a company as well known as Scotts would sell an implement that’s as poorly designed as this spreader. It is just about completely useless.

Broke first time used

Broke the first time I used it. The edge guard mechanism jammed and plastic pieces broke making the spreader unusable.

We were so excited to receive this spreader with our fertilizer. After the early spring application, I am so disappointed. We calibrated and used the settling indicated on the bag. Our yard looks like it has bright green zebra stripes.

Garbage Tool

Cheap construction for the price of over 100 dollars. Wheels won't stay on and rest of the spreader keeps falling apart. A piece of garbage compared to the older cheaper ones.

Broke on first use. Metal support bar broke when I while I was spreading. There was no weight on it.

Cheap plastic garbage that broke the 1st use

I bought his spreader and spread 6 gags of fertilizer on my property. It wasn't spreading evenly after the first few bags, but I finally used up the fertilizer. A few weeks later, I was going to reseed a portion of the lawn and when I was wheeling it empty to my garage, I noticed the spreader wasn't rotating when the wheels were turning. I took off the wheels and saw that one wheel is a drive wheel and the other is free wheeling. The shaft has two metal ridges that engage in the plastic ridges on he inside of the wheel's axle housing. When I removed he wheel from the axle, all of the plastic ridges that make up the spline in the wheel housing were stripped and fell out on the ground. I am really disappointed at the quality of this implement. Plastic engaging with metal is a poor idea that leads straight to a broken part that makes the whole piece of equipment a candidate for the garbage dump. There are better spreaders on the market. I won't buy another Scotts product for anything. This is an absolute waste of resources. All that plastic that has to be stored in landfills instead of being useful for years is not good for the environment and is a waste of my hard earned money.

Awful, cheap, save your money

Spreads terrible, cheaply made, over priced, using scotts products have strips in lawn, correct setting and overlap. Neighbors are laughing. I have pics but can't upload, don't buy!!!

It sounds like you might be seeing some light green or yellowish streaks in your lawn. This can happen if you didn't overlap enough when applying a product with fertilizer. This means some areas didn't get any fertilizer, so they didn't green up. Or, if you overlapped too much, you might have overapplied fertilizer, which can cause the grass to yellow or brown out.
