The slabs of ribs are flexible, and lay all over each other. This prevents the smoke from reaching all of them. They might well be in a pile on the grate.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Get the Deluxe instead

I have a Weber Kettle 22" and I use this rack to smoke more than 1 rack of ribs at a time. The shape of this rack offers support to the middle of the rack of ribs, but not to the ends. The ribs flop down on the sides resulting in a final product that doesn't lay flat. In some cases the ribs will bend so much that they'll touch the rack that is placed behind it. This creates bald spots on the meat. Get a different rack that will support the ribs more evenly across the whole rack.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
