Does what it says, but I expected more.

It cuts stuff. I really only use it for iron on and regular vinyl varieties, and it is cool how precisely it can cut designs that are very small. I used to screen print t-shirts, but I am an amateur; the Cricut had leveled up the quality of my product immensely.
And yet, I expected more. I paid full price for the thing, never having seen one in person before. Everything is super controlled by Cricut, from the pre-made designs you can download for a price, to the prompts you have to go through when setting up a cut. I was hoping for a little more leeway for creativity’s sake.
I figured out the software pretty quickly, but it doesn’t have all the tools I find myself searching for when creating designs, which can get frustrating. The program is also slow on my MacBook … Soooo sloowwww. I cannot do anything quickly. I have troubleshooted this numerous times, to no avail. Everything from clearing old data from my hard drive to re-calibrating the machine. And yet, there are still issues with bluetooth losing connection, or just not connecting. The machine freezes sometimes, requiring a restart. Any time there is an issue in the seemingly 30-step process to cut a piece of vinyl, you have to start all over again from the canvas screen. For example, if I get to the part where I am supposed to load the vinyl into the machine, but I noticed I’m supposed to have mirroring on because it’s iron-on, I can’t just quickly hit the button and get back to it, because the software and machine can’t keep up with that quick change. It freezes. Drops the connection. I have to go back to the canvas page or just restart the cricut program on my computer. Another really frustrating one is with smart vinyl or iron-on, if the machine doesn’t pull in the vinyl at the exact right angle, it gets all crumpled up, confused, and freezes. The computer program has no idea what’s up. So you have to turn the machine on and off again and hope that it releases the vinyl upon restarting. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t and off it goes again. Then when I finally do get the vinyl out, it is mangled, I have to cut it down (or, god forbid, cut a whole new piece), and restart the stupid computer program.
It ends up taking so long to do anything, and I can’t help but wonder, in this day and age, shouldn’t the process of cutting out shapes with a machine be a little smoother? It’s clearly a complex process, but I feel like the issues I’ve had could easily be fixed if anyone paid more attention. Or is it just me? There are so many people raving about their cricut machines, sooo many videos of different crafters explaining how to use them, as well as tons of other online resources for all the crafty possibilities with these machines. I have not read ANYTHING that mentions difficulties with the machines, or that warns of the high potential for developing a migraine when using Design Space. Am I the only one questioning if this thing is really worth all the hype (and the money)??

New Cricut3

Well it’s different! I am happy to have some new features to this compared to my air explore but I didn’t know you were going to have to buy new sized vinyl to use in it. Also it is sooo fast it would be nicer if it had someway to adjust the speed for different jobs. Don’t get me wrong if your doing a long run same cut job it’s nice to have the speed. But we don’t always need that speed. I’m not liking the calibration every time I put a mat in. Kind of thrown me off and the stop or pause button if you are trying to use has quite a delay before stopping and that’s not good! Hopefully I will get used to some of these changes and like my machine a lot more!!!

Holy cow. I knew I'd enjoy this, but didn't appreciate how much! It's SO much fun, and once the creative juices get flowing, there's no stop. I love, love, love it. I debated on which machine to get, and have no regrets with this over the Maker. I might have made a couple of things on the Maker, but I also don't think I'll miss the extra capabilities.

I received my machine on the 20th of September. I got home from work opened the box and I was ready to start making t-shirts for my business. I plugged it in and followed the very simple instructions to set up for the first time. Machine gave me an error before I could even try to connect it to my computer. Power light started blinking red. Machine looks very cheaply made. Color is ugly but there is no other option.

How disappointing! I have wanted a Cricut FOREVER and have waited and waited. Now I finally get one and a new one comes out that has such wonderful capabilities but Cricut refuses to see the market for add ons to the old machines....I am so bummed.

Horrible machine. Not worth the upgrade

Returned after 1 day of using (trying to use). Not one single video mentioned the machine having to scan the mat and the slow loading process, design space jamming and crashing several times when unloading after the cut, the fact the only time the machine cuts faster than the old machines is 1.) Using smart material or 2.) Turn of fast mode on the Air 2. The only thing going for this machine was how amazingly quiet it was. This may be a great machine for a first time cricut owner or a hobby crafter. But Definitely not for a veteran crafter with a fast paced business. Please have real people test these out. This needed more time and tweaking before being released.

I do not like how my mat bows up and gets stuck. I had one tear. I also don’t like the delay from when the project is finished to when the machine actually releases the mat.
