Slow cuts and no freedom to design

The machine is nice and quiet but I would not have upgraded it for my Explore 2 at all. The Explore is the best workhorse for a growing and busy business. The explore 3 is useful if you are cutting one thing and using one material at a time. Not 100 sheet of the same material and image on repeat. Pros: It is quiet There seem to be many more options for beginners to advanced materials and users
Cons: You can't "trick" the machine to think you are cutting on another mat size. I always have it set on a 12x24 mat so that I can arrange my cuts to use as much of the material as possible without waste. This is no longer an option. The machine measures the mat first and it will tell you that the mat size is wrong even if all the cutting area is within the 12x12 grid. This is incredibly frustrating and does not seem to really have a reason or be helpful. - Also you have to choose the material EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU CUT....when am cutting 100 pages of the same thing with the same material this add a ridiculous amount of time to my workday. Because don't forget you also have to wait for it to measure the mat EVERY SINGLE TIME. It doesn't measure then automatically start cutting. You have to wait for the measuring to start the cut.
These reasons have me putting this back in the box and buy more Explore 2. It is a nice machine but can't keep up with a growing business. Adding extra time to an already busy has me looking for other options. As a business investment I can't recommend this machine. If you need a strong and faithful machine try and get an Explore 2 or Maker.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We apologize for your experience and appreciate your feedback. The added process of the machines having to measure the mat length is a big change between the generations of the machines. Please contact Member Care at if you require any support.
I wrestled with this purchase and did a lot of research to find the perfect machine for me. I can now say I’ve never been happier with my decision. I’m have the best time creating Christmas gifts for my family and friends. Learning more and more about it everyday.
This machine is faster and quieter than my explore air 2, but is does not always cut through everything the first time (i.e. cardstock, laminate sheets, cut and print iron on sheets). I am using the blade that came with the machine. I have changed blades and used new mats, added more pressure, and calibrated the machine (again) checked for updates. I labored over making this purchase and I am very disappointed in its performance.

So disappointed

I was so excited to receive my Explore 3, as I use it for my business and it was advertised as being even faster than the Explore 2. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in this product, and the misleading features of it. I knew that it would be faster if using the new Cricut materials, I had no idea, nor did it state, that the machine is actually SLOWER than the Explore 2, when using your own materials. Not only is it SLOWER, it has to \"measure\" your mat each and every time you cut, which takes even more time, you also have to click your material selection for each mat before it starts. All in all, I feel duped and mislead. This slows down my production time by A LOT. I will not be using Cricut materials, as they are pricey and I buy my materials in bulk from other companies. I do not recommend this product, if you care anything about production time.
