satisfied customer except for the ionizer

After getting thru pg. #20 of the online reviews, I am very pleased to hear that it cuts down on dust which is why I purchased an air cleaner. I'm so tired of dusting only to have all surfaces covered with dust again in a week. I'm also happy to hear that the unit isn't a big energy hog. I thought about purchasing a cheaper unit, but upon further consideration, I figured if I purchase a cheaper unit I might make up the cost difference in energy consumption because of a less energy-efficient motor. I also like the ease with which I can open the compartment door to get the filter out, so I can clean the pre-filter. The big filter surface is nice, because it processes more air. I also like the filter replacement indicator.
One review I read stated that the customer wished that the unit contained a large UV bulb for sanitation and removal of bacteria and viruses. The fact that this unit doesn't have this feature is also a reason I bought it. Unless one has a comprised immune system, I can't justify this feature - not for my own living space. For hospitals and clinics, it's an absolute must. I also think that are large UV bulb would take more electricity which is what I don't want. However, the review I am referring to is right about the ionizer. An ionizer is supposed to give off a fresh after-a-thunderstorm scent, and I haven't noticed that with the Fit50, which is the only downside of the unit.

Six weeks later, I still love it

I purchased the FIT 50 unit in the aftermath of the Napa wildfires which made the air smokey and gross all over Northern California. I live in a fairly modern and well insulated downtown apartment and keeping the windows closed should make a big difference to the air quality. But I am also pretty close to a freeway and have a dog who sheds. I used to wake up with watering eyes and sneezing. The FIT50 has really cut down on the eye burning and watering symptoms. Also helps greatly with smokey or other smells. Its very intuitive to use and was very well packaged and easy to set up. Though expensive, its worth every penny.

Now awaiting the results. Very easy to purchase, finance, set up, runs very quietly, and the auto adjustment seems to function well. Too early to tell the results as it has only been a few days.

Amazing! I’m so thankful. I purchased to alleviate the cat litter box smell. Literally zero smell now. Life safer. Thank you. The best. Anyone with cats needs this and it’s a life saver. Buy one now and don’t think twice. Buy the correct filter. All good. Awesome!

Great Product

My husband and I have experienced upper respiratory problems due to our three cats. This fall our breathing issues became very serious so I purchased the Alen BreatheSmart FIT50 air purifier. Within 24 hours of using the new purifier, we both experienced amazing relief. We have been using the unit for two weeks now and have had no breathing problems at all. I plan to purchase another unit for my office very soon. This is a Great Product!

I am very pleased with my purchase. I have noticed that when the sun shines through the windows, I see hardly any dust in the air. I also like that there is an automatic setting that adjusts to the cleanliness of the air, so I can set it and forget it. I have the purifier on 24/7, but sometimes it's a little too loud for my taste when it is on its highest setting. So I tend to have it on low during the day, and I set it to high at night. It creates a nice air movement, so the air doesn't feel so stale. I have 2 dogs as well, but I haven't really noticed a decrease in the amount of hair I have to clean up. I would recommend this purifier to someone who wants to drastically improve air quality, not necessarily cut down on pet hair and dust on the floor and furniture. Also, I feel the purifier works best with an open floor plan.

BreatheSmart Fit50 is Great!

I've had the Fit50 for about 3 weeks and it has been a great so far. We use it in the bedroom and the fan is so quiet! I really appreciate the Auto feature which adjusts the fan speed based on the air quality conditions. It definitely works as we have a down comforter and when we get into bed or make the bed in the morning you hear the fan speed up as it detects the additional down/dust that moving the comforter creates. After a few minutes it lowers back down and is whisper quiet for sleeping.
I work from home in a basement office so I brought the unit down stairs to test the quality of the air and it was on Turbo for a while before slowing down. I have just ordered and received a second unit for the office!
Look forward to many years of reliable air purification from both units and based on what I've read on the website about the Alen Lifetime Warranty...I've got nothing to worry about if either malfunction.
One suggestion for improvement is how the "Lock" and "Panel Lights Off" feature work together. Once you've locked the panel you can't turn off the lights and once you've turned off the lights, you can lock it. It would be a nice enhancement that once the panel lights off off, you can still hold the Lock button down to lock it. Just a thought!

Works well, but despite working 24/7 the air quality indicator never turns blue. Also, too many bright buttons on the top panel attract too much attention in the living room. I wish there was an options to turn off the light.
