In cold weather, especially with even a slight breeze it is hard to keep temperatures reasonably constant when smoking your items. Pellets burn at too high a rate trying to keep up. The blanket is a close fitting wind break essentially and pellet burn is much reduced while temps stay as constant as ever, maybe better. It is not intended for high temp use and if you follow the directions you will have no problems with the straps or buckles being damaged. After the smoke cycle I just un folded the blanket from the handle and laid it on the deck, with the straps loosely attached in front. Turned the temps up for the final cook and shut down as normal when done. After the grill has cooled I simply lifted the blanket up and folded it back over the top to reattach at the handle slot. Easy peezy, effective, and no damage as others have had when using it at high temps, contrary to instructions.

Falls apart

Bought this for my son Christmas 2021 As we live in a milder climate he didn’t put it on until this winter. Literally falling apart and is unusable. Very last Traeger accessory I buy. Way overpriced for how long it last. Bought an off brand for our traeger. Heavy use and it’s still great!

This is a necessity for colder climates

If you have a 34 inch Traeger and live in a place that it snows, you need one of these. The only problem is, you really need to remove it in the summer because it retains heat too well. I was getting flame outs.

In the cold winters of Utah this is amazing at regulating grill temperature (preventing dips and peaks) and using less pellets during your cook! Definitely recommend.

This fits great and is just what I needed to use my smoker when the temps dropped. Just remember to remove it when the outside temps rise above about 40 degrees or your cook temp exceeds 350 degrees. Love it.

Does it’s job. Really poor quality that it can’t be used with high heat. High heat will ruin it. I’ve gone through 3 so far. But yet when it’s cold outside the grill won’t maintain high temps without. Seems silly.
