No back up software but sill great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great drive, but lack of back-up software is a little tricky. WD's software did not work but no software means I have to figure it out on my own, and the Windows backup software does not seem to like Seagate. Nonetheless, great drive.thanks give me a 🎁

Good drive from a known company

This drive is a beast in terms of capacity... 12 TB!!!
For an HDD the speed was pretty good. Using the Blackmagic Speed Test it gave me around 230 MB/s on both, read and write.
I don't see myself using it for editing videos but definitely for archival.
If you are a photographer you can probably use it as your main media drive.

What I didn't like so much and ultimately made me remove a star:
It comes with a USB-A cable. Everyone is transitioning to USB-C so I had to use an adapter for my Mac.
The paperwork points you to a Seagate.com/rescue page that doesn't exist. I'm not sure if it's to download additional software or if it's for the recovery service they offer.

Overall I think it's a very good drive if you're looking for a lot of storage and decent speeds for most office/home stuff.

A must have back up hard drive

Reliable, compact, quiet

Upon connecting it to my PC, it's instantly recognized, and the storage folder pops up, making it a quick plug-and-play experience. While it does need a power supply to function, I appreciate its ability to power through the USB port. What's truly impressive is how quiet it operates and its ability to maintain a cool temperature. With ample storage for multiple devices, this drive easily handles the task at hand. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance and reliability.

I bought this as I collect movies and my 8 TB was getting full. Once received did a transfer of files and it was off to the races. It is my main backup along with another 10 TB Seagate.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased the 12TB model, but received the 16TB model. Although I am happy with this upgrade, I am concerned of potential issues if I needed to file a warranty claim. It works well and benchmarks are decent. This is my offline NAS backup and am happy it was shipped double boxed for improved longevity. More filling between the boxes may have helped reduce impacts during shipping.
