Used Gen 1 and Gen 3 Willows - 2 years. Multiple customer service

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Gen 1 willow pump for 1 year, then another half year 12 months later (2nd kid). The right pump still works, but the left pump was replaced 3 times (at Willows expense). The last time it broke it was with the 2nd kid and long out of warranty, no repair or gen 1 replacement options, so I bit the bullet and paid full price for a gen 3 willow. I like the container version to compliment the bag option, gen 3 is much nicer and haven't had any pump issues in 6 months of use. I have been having a lot of assembly issues with the Gen 3 bag-less container flanges, they seem really sensitive to flex tube installment (cant push the tube all the way onto the barb or the base can become unseated is my best guess). customer service with all my issues has been good, only sore spot is not having any options to get Gen 1 pumps working 2 years after purchase.

Not worth the headache

I appreciate what companies like Willow are trying to do in simplifying pumping for busy moms; however, this pump did not work for me. First of all, I am 5'3" and petite, and this pump looked ridiculous on me (unlike the photos shown of women discreetly wearing the pump). There was no way I would be able to wear it during work, let alone around the house in front of anyone besides my husband. I could only wear a huge T-shirt to pump in this. The photo of the woman doing yoga in the pump is so unrealistic--with just one tiny move, the pump loses suction and can start to hurt a little. Even when just wearing a nursing bra and trying to pump in the car, I felt like the pump slipped down and I kept having to tighten my bra (which was a nice and supportive Bravado nursing bra). I have a great milk supply, and during my morning pump with my Spectra I am able to get at least 5 or 6 oz out of each side in about 10 minutes. With the Willow, sometimes I would pump for 25 minutes just to get the 4 oz per side that the reusable bags can hold. Some pumping sessions were better/quicker than others but it was very unpredictable with the Willow. The pump can also leak if the flanges aren't perfectly in the pump, making it to where you end up losing some of the milk you just pumped. I was hoping to at least pump in the car on the way to work to justify this purchase, but I would rather just get it done quickly and easily with my Spectra despite being attached to a pump rather than spending the time putting this pump together in a bra and constantly readjusting it just to get less milk out and spend more time pumping.
I wish there had been a way to try this pump first, I am definitley frustrated that I spent so much money on this pump and it did not work well for me. I also had to buy additional sizing inserts despite using the measuring app that Willow suggests, which was another expense to add to the already very expensive product. Lastly, Willow says the pump parts last 3 months for best results, meaning you are ideally supposed to repurchase flanges and reusable containers every 3 months, whereas my Spectra parts are going strong with my second baby after already using them with my first. Bottom line is the Willow was in no way discreet, making it of no benefit at work, was not worth the expense, and did not get the job done as quickly or as efficiently as my Spectra.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I absolutely love the willow! The only downside is that it’s a bit bulky/heavy. But the fact that I can do chores and not worry about leaking is amazing!

Fit for a DRIVER

I loovvee my WILLOW !!! As a fedex driver im always on the go and away from outlets. This pump is hands free and allows me to get work done without having to be attached to an outlet. Its a bonus with the apps tracker of how much volume your putting out. 5 STAR RECOMMENDATION TO ALL MY FRIENDS FAMILY AND MILKY MOMMAS !

Works great, when functioning properly

This is my 4th baby, 3rd time breastfeeding. I will say the Willow pump works great, when it’s functioning properly. I love being hands free and able to walk around and keep busting while pumping.
My baby is 3 months old (almost 4 months) and I have been back to work for a month. I have already had to call Willow once for replacement pieces for my reusable containers because they stopped working one month after receiving them. Now going on month 2 back to work and my flanges are constantly getting caught inside the pump, Causing the milk to leak and spill inside the actual pump, never read my output properly, it’s constantly throwing error messages, says I need to clean the flanges when there is literally nothing on them, etc. to say the least, using my Willow pump has been stressful when it doesn’t work properly. And these days it’s not worked without me haven’t to fix something or finagle with it before it decided to function. No pumping mama, Just trying to feed her babe should have to stress about whether or not she is going to be able to pump enough milk for the next day for her baby because the pump doesn’t want to work right half the time. Highly considering going back to a standard pump that I know will work correctly every single time I use it no matter what.
As expensive as Willow is, it should come with a carrying bag, replacement flanges for life (because you know there isn’t that much money in those), the bags should be cheaper or at least make reusable containers that work properly every.single.time.

Easy to put willow together and great results from pumping session.

I used my willow for the first time yesterday and to be honest I was worried it would be complicated to use and all. I watched one YouTube video on how to assemble and how to take apart and it was honestly soo simple that I got it on my first try and I actually pumped 3.5oz on my first round as well. I'm 100% satisfied with my willow product and I would recommend to anyone who's trying to find a easier way to pump and convient. The machine is super quiet like you barely hear it making noise. I'm in love to be honest.

There is no doubt that I was able to reach my pumping goal because of this pump. There is definitely a learning curve on this and I do think there were some issues with my original ones, but once those were resolved, they worked perfectly. After three months of using, I was having issues with the pump turning on. When I contacted willow, they immediately sent me a replacement after I sent my information in. When I received the new one, these worked even better than the last. I have had no issues since. I am able to pump anywhere able with the bags. The reusable containers are nice, but they do leak if you bend over - but still nice to have when using at home to not have to order as many bags. Would highly recommend this product!
