Simply Amazing

As a physician in a high-volume hospital system, I don't often have time to take 30 minute (or longer) breaks to pump every 3-4 hours. With Willow, I was able to pump on schedule without having to worry about falling behind on work. I could also pump while driving, shopping, or even lying down (critical for those middle-of-the-night 2AM pumps). There was a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, but everything quickly fell into place. Bags are a bit pricey (I had the 1.0, so the new containers weren't an option for me), especially if I only got 1-2oz during the pump, but are also so convenient if you're on the go and don't want to waste time transferring from pump to bag/bottle. I was also able to freeze directly in the bags, which saved me from having to buy bags specifically for that. As long as they weren't too full, they froze pretty flat so I was able to stack them to the ceiling of my freezer. At the time of this review, I've already completed my pumping journey (still direct breastfeeding every day, though), but I don't know if I would have made it to my 1 year goal of EBF without this pump. Although there are other cordless pumps available, my experience with Willow has been so smooth that I hesitate to explore other options whenever my next pregnancy comes around. Why mess with what works?

Very convenient

Second time mom that is breastfeeding/exclusively pumping. I purchased the Willow Pump 2.0 to have more mobility and be free to keep up with my 4yr old. I also wanted to prepare myself for when it was time to go back to work due to the willows discretion.
Pros: I was able to purchase this through my FSA account, which was definitely an easy process. I opted to try both the bags and milk container. Having to get used to the willow was challenging for me at first because I was so used to being attached to the tubes and outlet from my hospital grade pump I wasnt sure how to break the habit. Even after watching the willow videos and reading the manuals it truly took me about 5 or 6 tries to fully feel comfortable using the pump. My first time using it with the bags, I cut the opening at the top of the bag first anpd tried pumping which was a big no-no, I didnt remember reading anywhere about what to do with the bags upon initial use and I lost some milk cause it spilled through and into the pump. Once I got used to the process of putting in the bags and latching correctly it became more manageable. I also dont have a preference between the bags and the milk container other than the container is more eco friendly.
Cons: Although the container is easy to use, there were some things that took some getting used to i.e. flipping the dial from 1 to 2 before pouring and also pouring out the access milk because it doesn't all go into the container. Cleaning the container can be a bit cumbersome because the brush doesn't fully reach into the crevices.
My recommendation would be if you're home or near a sink then use the container but if you're out and about use the bags. It's just easier to pop the bag out and store rather than pour the milk and then having to wash all the parts. Also I fully recommend to practice several times before using.

Convenient option

I choose willow because my insurance covers it. I travel frequently for work and I’m planning on providing breast milk for 6 months. The wearable and container options were the reasons for me to go with willow. I like it’s wearable, however, it is louder than I thought and it is not too comfortable when you pump while moving around. The suction also makes nipples not too comfortable but overall a good product.

Love this pump!

This pump does have a learning curve! But once you get it i think you’ll love it. I am a veterinary nurse and would not be able to keep pumping if it weren’t for this pump. I’m able to walk around the clinic and get things done while pumping. I’m not cooped up in a room plugged into a wall. So thankful for Willow!!

BEST!

All around best best best! I had some trouble at the beginning but I reached out to one of consultants and they helped & me and gave me some tips! Sent me the correct size flanges that I needed and I was set up to go. Once you take your time to get the hang of it, it’s a dream especially for a mama of twins. So nice to be able to pump wherever you go. Worth the money hands down...mamas you want one trust me.

It’s Okay

I thought that this pump would be the answer to my problem at work. It is almost impossible for me to stop and pump in the middle of my work day, at times. As long as I am using the bags, I am usually pretty good. However, the containers are awful! I ALWAYS have a problem with one of the pumps, only when using the containers, not moving from stimulation to expression. I am sorry that I wasted my money on the reusable containers. I guess I’ll just have to stick with the bags for now.

Highly recommend for moms, especially second time mothers!

I just had my second child, my son, 4 weeks ago. I nursed my daughter for 26 months successfully and was worried about my breastfeeding journey with my son as my daughter has a bit of a spitfire of a personality and never sits still lol anywho, the willow has made my breastfeeding journey much easier as I can chase her around, clean up the house, and pump all at the same time. The containers are super convenient as well btw. Wish the bag container had smaller flanges but cushions purchased through a third party worked well to make the flanges smaller.

Defective Pump
on December 6, 2019

Using the Willow Pump with the container for less than 3 weeks when the pump started to malfunction. It was improperly registering the amount of milk I was pumping. It would say I pumped 4 oz after only 5 minutes and it would pause telling me to empty container but in reality I only pumped maybe half an ounce. I called Customer Care and they told me to use the bags and reset the pump. That worked for a bit but then the same issue started happening with the bags. And the container is still useless. It still doesn't register the correct amount of milk or it tells me there is an assembly issue and it won't pump at all. I've tried reaching out to Customer Care (currently on an hour plus wait in the phone) but they are not very helpful. Paid all this money for the convenience but it's making the whole process more frustrating and is making me want to give up on breastfeeding all together. I want a pump that works or a refund!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
